theyre not that expensive if you get ones against knife or .22lr (Level I) grade which meant sustain against maxinium of 1000fps

Get a lightweight Merino wool balaclava, sew some perforated neoprene in the mouth area. Lightweight wool like Merino is less itchy than regular wool, won't trap much heat. CoolMax might be a good alternative.

The perf Neoprene should be about 3-4 mm thick or it may not stop a close-range shot. And make sure the perforation holes are significantly smaller than a BB.
