Its quite possible that your PDI spring is the problem. They have a rounded bottom that can slip off the spring guide and actually stop the piston from being fully pulled to the rear of the gearbox causing a lock up. I suggest getting a spring with a flattened bottom so that it wont slide off to test your problem or modify the PDI spring so that its filed to a flat end or get pliers and pull the end of the spring in.

Conclusion: Just try to get it to work with no tension from the spring and move from there to pin point the problem. Theory 2 sounds like your best bet. Good luck.

I still had the problem when I installed the stock spring back in the mechbox.

Both side of my PDI spring look pretty flat to me. I'm not sure to understand what you are saying here.

The first thing I'll try once I get my new mechbox is definitely just the gears and motors without the spring and piston.

well, from looking at your spring, it seems to have the flat ends!

I did work on a TM G3, with the V2 gearbox, and man it a pain to put the whole handle on the test the gun with the motor and all, i do agree that it was a stupid design:P

Good luck.

FIXED.

I received the Systema Mechbox case and I also got a new magpull PTS MIAD grip. My gun is finally back in one piece and working.

Now the grip has 4 screws holding it to the mechbox and it's a lot easier to install the motor in this one. There's enough room for both wires and the motor to freely move until you install the bottom plate. The motor ajustment screw is a single piece with a large flathead instead of the stock small hex screw & disk.

So as I suspected, my problems were caused by the motor/wires positions inside the grip.

I encountered some problems with the new mechbox case and grip. The spring guide tabs needed to be filed and rounded to fit into the Systema case. The case didn't fit exactly like the TM one inside the receiver and the holdings pins were way too tight so I filed them a little. The grip was thicker than the stock one and it wouldn't slide over the bushings, so I had to file the inside of the grip as well.

The only problem I haven't fixed is the fire selector. It doesn't go smoothly from safe to semi. The trigger offers a bit of resistance the first shot I fire on semi after leaving the safe position. The next shots are normal. I'm guessing the selector plate isn't moving properly using the selector switch only. Maybe it's the same issue I had with the holding pins regarding the position of the Systema case inside the TM receiver.

I'm not sure exactly how many FPS I gained, but the gun shoots thru both sides of the coke can and thru the center bottom.

Now all I need is a metal receiver and I'll be done with this gun.

I wish I had fixed this in time to be part of the DOW Presents: OP Cameleon - Death Of Quick Pass.
