Yes, you do, unless you're supervised by a parent.

Association

I think we should form an Association in Canada with all the 18+ Airsofters and become recognized as one large group. e.g CSSA Canadian Sports Shooter Association.

You mean a registered lobby group?

I don't have a problem with that. Or with getting PALs. While this site was down I researched Airsoft in the U.S. MAA (www.mnairsoft.org) is interesting. There are even Airsoft radio stations.

why can't minors be made to pass a test. on safety, and watever else the government wants. and if the kid passes, he can play airsoft, with a parent present. and the parent owns the guns. and if they kid breaks the rules that were laid down by the government, he gets his airsofting pass revoked until he's 18

Useless.

Plus, kids can't vote to get that anyway. And the cost would outweigh the little, if any gain there is.

Just stick to clearsoft. They have some clearsoft AEGs now, get one and put a Marui mechbox in it.

You're actually giving that advice? That's the stupidest thing I've heard today. It also won't solve anything. Like you just said in the SAME post:

It is useless to make an attempt and I believe there would be little or no benefit, other than to minors, who can't vote, and any benefits that were made would be outweighed by the cost.

Clearsoft is what I suggest, and I am sticking to that. You can't play on a designated field, so unless you like to look at a locked gun case, as you said you were mature, then I would suggest you get a clearsoft. You can at least go out and have some fun with friends using clearsoft.

What do you think he should do?

because a kid breaking the rules can still cost thousands of dollars (how much does a police response to a school for instance cost?) and possibly cost the kid their life. if they dont understand absolutely everything or make one wrong decision the police respond and could cause someone to be shot by the police. someone over 18 is at least (legally) deemed to be responsible enough to handle themselves in situations knowing that but under 18 is not.

Actualy ity is rather easy to get a "registered club" goping. It would fall under the not-for -profit licensing stuff. I actually looked into it for legitimizing our team in sask (and it actually looked like we could get funding from the gov't lol). It is fairy easy, you just got to spin it the right way, and airsoft isn't technically illegal...yet.

Because the government said, clearly, that Replicas can only be owned by someone over 18?
And if you interpret that rule in a certain way, a teen cant use one either?

Also because; many teens dont follow those basic rules (parent present and use on an authorized field); the program you want does not exist (and they're not likely to implement it); and if you really want to shoot something just go see if there is a youth program at your local gun range?

Then there's the novel idea of waiting until you are 18 and do this legally?

I definitely agree with Greylocks on this one...I'm a textbook example of someone dedicated to airsoft enough to want to see it have a future (though, unfortunately, I'm more of a collector, and not as much of a player...one of these days...). I was first introduced to airsoft by a friend in Europe at age 16 while on vacation. Though I wanted to get into airsoft right away, I spent the next 2 years reading up on it, looking at gun and equipment reviews and forums, even perusing the classifieds here (pre-age-verification) to determine acceptable prices for GBBs and AEGs, both new and used. When my 18th bday rolled around, as I recall the day of, I bought my first airsoft gun, and I feel as though I did the right thing by waiting, as I was now doing it legally, and I had spent time learing about the game and equipment instead of dicking around trying to get clearsoft and cheap springers.

Ya, it sucks being underage, but just suck it up. You don't have to have airsoft guns to be part of the community. When you're 18 and know what you're talking about, people will respect you for it.
