Seconded! I went through the Kraken learning ritual four years ago and tried to fit an Element receiver. Ultimately I gave up on it.
if i remember right, i got an element body from huang for the one i had and it needed a little filing on the trigger guard to fit that to the body but other than that it all fit pretty well.. dust cover i remember was tight to put on though. package was missing some of the dummy rivets though :/

Ehn I wouldn't dump too much money into this gun like buyin new receiver. Just beef it up inside and out with anything extra you have layin around. Make it shoot a little better and learn through the process

Thats really good advice. While you can change out many externals and internals its still a kraken at the end of the day. I like to think of this little gun as a Honda Civic. Sure you can add on tonnes of stuff to make it look like a race car but its still a civic underneath all that. Now if you spend a little money and put some work on the guts. Well you can make it something half decent and level the playing field a little bit.

OR you can be a cheapass like me and keep it bone stock.

Keeping it stock. I've messed with V3s in the past. And I dont really want to deal with that pain in the ass unless something breaks.

Question directed to OP.

Even in your case, why not open it up. If it's a backup, there's lots you can do to make it perform if not better, at least more reliably. All the practice helps too when you go to work on any of your other guns.

I guess there's always gun docs you can pay to do it for you if you're too nervous

That was my plan, I've opened it up to learn about the internals. Then I won't need to pay a gun doc, I can essentially become one myself. Going to try and salvage the minor damage done to it. Nothing epoxy can't fix, lol.

Hey Pirate,

If you're looking for a metal body, don't waste your time with anything other than G&P or at the least King Arms. I've had every type of "TM style" metal body under the sun and G&P is BY FAR the best. All the other makes, including SRC and CYMA often develop a crack near the front where the receiver holds the rear sight block assembly in place or breaks at the rear stock tangs.

G&P receivers are made of a much better quality metal than the rest and their finish is the nicest too, not that slick looking black, but a grittier one like the real thing. Only issue with G&P is the upper receiver, although steel, looks silly cause it looks different from the receiver.

Going along with that, I highly recommend a G&P steel outer barrel too, you can't beat them and they will work with Kraken parts. Plus, they look really awesome.

Don't touch touch the G&P rear sight block assembly though, terrible quality where the faux gas tube connects to the block. I've bought 2 and both came broken. King arms is the way to go or Classic Army if you can get one.

The Sky's the limit man, and Krakens are a great learning platform cause they're a total copy of Tokyo Marui's. Sadly now though, they're made up of CYMA internals instead of TM. The old ones are supposedly TM parts on the inside.

The Kraken was my first decent gun, however I was quick to screw up the spring and motor.

However, at the time not being so savvy with gearboxes, I ordered a new Cyma Gearbox and popped it in. Ran better than before. Now I even have the fuse removed, runs very well.

It is a decent upgrade gun if you're willing to put money into internals and a metal body, both of which I have.
