Shotguns I should lookout for @ Toronto convention

where are you from?

you could buy the shotty from CT. i like it a lot. i took it apart and painted the body inside and out. (black inside, and brown outside, when when it wears it will let the black show through) when i'm tired of the plastic or break it. i'll buy the TSD (or similar) in the states for dirt cheap and just strip the parts i need.

but i live in windsor, so i can do that easily. it may be an option for you.

I'll help...

First and foremost...guns, even "toy" ones...should be used responsibly. Even if the airsoft gun you want to get is to shoot your buddies and giggle like a kid (we still do that) it should be done safely and at an appropriate venue.

Then...set a budget and stick to it. That will largely dictate what options you have. If you see things that are above and beyond your budget...simply decide if you need to wait and save up more.

The cheap shotguns are just that...quite cheaply made and nothing stellar to note. Their internals are plastic, fragile and do not suffer hard use very much. They're typically underpowered and "weak". So from that perspective, buy whichever one you want. Some guys have said that the crossman one is pretty good for the price though.

So far as which specific one is better than another...just Google "xxxxxx review" (i.e. UTG shotgun review). You'll get tons of results and probably find a bunch of pics and reviews. (Keep in mind that a lot of reviews of cheapo guns seem to be written up by kids who could only afford to buy cheapo guns...and their reviews tend to be a bit biased)

While I can appreciate that a cheap one might only cost $80..I'd rather not piss away that $80. IMHO, I think they're all really sh*tty and fragile and I find it a bit silly when a "shotgun" only shoots 1 projectile at a time.

This is why most people have been recommending the tri-shot Stinger S34P. It's still craptastic plastic, but at least it functions like you'd expect a shotgun to.

I got one about a month and a half ago, reinforced the grip with fiberglass, then broke the internals doing an "exploratory dis-assembly". Only gamed with it once in the time that it worked, but it was good fun while it lasted, and I can't say I wouldn't buy another one, assuming I can't get my first one running again.

The thing ive found with the crossman s34p is that if you disassemble it further than taking off the cover to spray it, it will break. screws will strip, and plastic will crack and break. They arent meant to be disassembled, upgraded or repaired. the plastic internals are brittle.

That being said, if you get it on sale its well worth the 75-80$ you pay. ive had 2 of them. the first exploded when I was using it in -20, so there not winter safe. The second hasnt failed me yet. I get some pretty decent kills with it from time to time. They're really a fun item to use, and I generally use it in every game, so its a near constant peice of kit on my vest.

I have a Crosman S34P myself and quite enjoy it. As has been said already, don't take it apart more than you have to. I did and mine is fine, but some of the tabs are a little cracked, so be wary. I find with .28g BBs you can get almost 80 feet at a one foot spread. I have ran it as a primary and will admit that it is sub-par for that. The box says that it has a "Slam Fire" feature on it, hold the trigger, pump, and it will shoot right away. Don't do that. It will mess up your sears really fast. The Crosman one also has pointless iron sights. They sit lower than the receiver making them almost impossible to use I have used mine side by side with a TSD, his was a nicer quality, the fake bolt was more realistic looking but with 28s vs his 20s, I out-ranged his. Internals are the same in all of them, so really the difference is whether or not you want a stronger external housing or not.

I see, in that case if the TSD isn't that much more expensive than the Crosman, I'll grab it. If the Crosman is still significantly cheaper, I'll get that one instead. After all, it only needs to last long enough till the RS97SR/KWA Tork comes out. After I buy my primary I could maybe try to shorten it Masterkey style and run it as a backup. If it breaks no tears would be shed.

word of caution... i' not sure where/if you can get these (TSD) in canada.
also, they sell in the states for like 60-70 bucks, so typically would be close to the 120-140 range in canada (if you follow the usuall mark up for living in canada)

if i'm wrong, please correct me, cause i may be interested in buying one for a parts gun eventually.

you are correct, TSD shotguns is hard to come by in Canada other then in the classifieds.

Parts gun is a gun i would buy just to use for spare parts. since some of these guns are dirt cheap, its sometimes cheaper and easier to buy a whole gun then just the part your looking for.

for example. lets pretend the air nozzle broke, which could happen. because this gun has three barrels, it has three air nozzles all connected. this part is difficult to find and would probably cost ~30 bucks and a ton to time finding it. now i live in windsor so i have the luxury of a close proximity to the states.

i can buy an entire gun in the states for around 60 bucks. ship it to a friends house and take all the parts off of it that would make it illegal to import. now i bought the part i needed, and the rest of the parts just incase. with the added benefit of buying a gun with a full stock if i want one.

the outer "body" parts of this gun would be the only thing you would nee to take off. so the outer barrel, the shroud that sits over the trigger area. stuff like that, which probably not be at risk of breaking unless i'm really rough with the gun.

I have the UTG M3 Shotgun I've tried the Canadian tire one there isn't much of a difference except one comes in black plastic and one in clear they both work fine I wouldn't be surprised if the crosman one is a UTG/ ACM Shotgun in clear plastic.
