this may be a dumb question but can you use Jig A Loo for gun maintenance as well since it doesnt have petroleum in it? like cleaning your bore, feed chamber, and GBB pistol.

I found this:

Quote:
Jig-A-Loo contains silicone, 30-60% methylene chloride and 10-30% perchloroethylene[2] Methylene chloride is the active ingredient in many paint strippers and perchloroethylene is the most common dry cleaning fluid. They are both aggressive and toxic chlorinated solvents. Although the manufacturer emphasizes the lack of petroleum distillates, these chlorinated solvents are more toxic than the petroleum solvent heptane, which is commonly used as solvent for US market silicone lubricants. OSHA allows much lower permissible exposure level for these chlorinated solvents compared to heptane.

100PPM TWA Tetrachloroethylene
25PPM TWA Methylene Chloride

Well it's Friday. Friend of mine wants to play at xT tonight so I may get a chance to shoot you (or shoot people with you)!

Not sure about that. I don't pick up my car till Saturday and the guy driving us cant go. My friend MIGHT be able to drive, not sure. Saturday night we probably will go. If not, we'll go Sunday around 12ish.

I forgot you have to come from Portage. The roads probably aren't so good after all the snow today.

No. we decided to wait till Saturday or Sunday. Especially since we'll have to drive through the night to get home...

Bump on this.

So is Jig-A-Loo a good alternative for WE Mags?

I'm fixing leaks and kinda going thru all my AI oil in silicon baths.

I've had the problem of BB's being too small and blew up my electric auto loader. The BB's were just small enough that 2 managed to fit in one gap in the main feed gear. The motor pushed through but a could of teeth on the main gear broke rendering my loader useless.

what kind of mags are you using? I've had zero issues with G&P or KA midcaps.

EDIT:

Screw you Boyso for the necro!

Shit no.

I've had Jig-A-Loo melt through latex/nitrile gloves more than once. Wouldn't want to see what it does to an o-ring.

Go to a hobby shop (the kind that sells RC cars) and get silicone shock oil.

Yeah I was referring to this post by Brian :

non greasy .. leaves a dry slick film.. excellent for Magazines ( also good for the recoil spring in an AR buffer Tube )

I also use it to displace water in the WE trigger group ( and in Trigger groups of my RS as well)
Guess I'll try to find a hobby shop now!

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.

Jig-a-loo is silicone-based, but it contains a substantial quantity of methylene chloride, which is used to make paint stripper and plastic welding.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jig-a-loo (factoid: it's fantastic to cleanly and effortlessly remove the orange paint used on many airsoft pistols) but I wouldn't put it near anything silicone (or my skin -- it irritates pretty fast).

If you are fixing leaks why dont you go to canadian tire and get some permatex blue gasket maker. I can be found in the auto section and costs about 8 bucks. I fixed 3 WE G39 mags and it worked like a charm!

I cite the following:
