I have just received the first shipment of SRC AKS74U!

It works fine and shoots consistently around 430fps or so, given that you don't do very rapid firing (not too much cool down).
The pistol grip is much thinner than an AEG's because it doesn't need to hide a motor anymore.
I was pretty happy that it strips down just like a real AK
All in all I think it's a solid gun for practical airsoft skirmishing.

Detail specs are listed here: http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/gas-src.htm
Brief review: http://www.youtube.com/user/ratech59.../0/qR-wIgDE9tA (starts from 1:07)
High Res Pic I took a few days ago:

They are still working on the G36 GBBR, it won't be released anytime soon.

Within 2011 is what they told me :/

Does anyone know if SRC will be releasing bakelite mags for the SRC AK?

I've seen that before, I don't think that's a new clip.

Haven't heard or read anything about it lately, though I haven't exactly been looking for that either.

If I may ask, why do some of you consider the VFC GBBR a failure? I realize some parts have a higher tendency to break due to the use of alu alloy instead of steel but I don't expect Viper/Inokatsu build for <$300. As I recall, VFC will replace broken bolts for free and RS charging handles are compatible. Other than that and some hop issues easily sorted, I'm leaning towards getting a VFC due to its cheap mags. I'd love a Viper but damn the cost.

For a first gbbr I would always suggest either a WE or a KJW, both of which are affordable and are very solid platforms. I know too many people who dropped over $1500 on a WOC or a Ino as their first gun and were dissapointed.

I have owned a WE PDW for about 2months and i will have to agree with Eeyore. It is really solid and it was affordable. Have yet to be disappointed with this buy.

I saw videos of the WE PDW in game and it looked pretty amazing cooldown wise. Still, I don't know much about the WE's other than that their V1 closed bolt systems seemed more like a beta product than something that should have been sold to consumers.

I'd prefer to stick to the WA system due to its abundant knowledge base and aftermarket parts availability. VFC seems to have made some improvements on the design while keeping price low and retaining some WA and AEG compatibility and using RS receiver spec. I just haven't seen many reviews which is my main concern. VFC has been available since July/August, right?

At the games I frequent.
On average.
Number of WE's on a field at a time: 10+
Number of AEG's: 10+
Number of WA's on the field <1

The WA system is over complicated, expensive, and frustrating. It is NOT a bad system. It's just easier to run a WE right now.
