I just did a ground up build and used an old junker clone as a parts gun for all those little annoying bits and slowly replace them. If you've got your Kraken running the way you like now with a decent shim job it wouldn't surprise me if it lasted a long time, Go ahead and base something around that if you want. You can eventually replace everysingle part of it like I did! (I started with a plastic mechbox Tippmann lol) Quote:
Second I don't even see how that can break, The battery tray/bolt assembly get hit by the bolt not the reciever unless you modified yours, Even then it's a very thick chunk of metal and to crack it seems difficult unless you smack it around before it's installed because after it is there is nowhere for it to even move. Again I'm not saying it couldn't happen I just really don't see how, Unless me and the local gang got the only good element ones ever made.

None of the problems reported in those RS reviews seems particularly serious or incorrectable. They're all fairly easy and/or cheap fixes, certainly easier than upgrading a TM to full wood and metal and hoping the aftermarket parts fits without issue.

All RealSword AK's need a hopup change right off the bat, that's the only thing you'd need to do to them, but considering the near $1k price tag in Canada, and the fact that you won't be blowing the gun up with explosives, just go for a decent quality clone.

Element receivers are complete shit and should be avoided at all costs. I had one that broke because I racked my bolt after adjusting the hop-up. As for AK's, the G&G AK is really good for the price. I'd avoid anything Dboys or Cyma... If you can spring for the Realsword, sure they have slight mag-feeding issues... but there's ways around that (change the hop-rubber for something softer, buy real-sword brand mags, or buy MAG brand black 74 mags) I've worked on a Realsword Type 56 and a Type 97B... They are both BEAUTIFULLY made guns. The Realsword 56 is SUPER heavy though lol Realsword 56's are extremely well built, I've got a friend that HEAVILY and AGGRESSIVELY games ones every week and that thing has taken some serious punishment. also, it has been my experience with element metal bodies (I've owned 10+) that they are just fine and alot more accessible to people looking to spruce up their guns, I have seen the majority of the ones I've owned fail due to modified bolts, the ones without modification have worked just fine.

yes, they are, Kalash=Dboys/Boyi and say what you want about their other guns, their AK line is the best bang for the buck, they're direct clones of VFC and are a very high quality build, the next step up pricewise would be a VFC which is slightly less than a RS

From lowest to highest, please categorize TM, VFC, KALASH, RS, G&G

I would probably say that the RS one is a better option than the TM one, even considering the price tag. Despite its incomparability with TM parts, you can get replacement parts from the RS website, and proper feeding mags as well, and their parts are good enough that it can handle a higher powered spring, although depending on the model(export to japan or international) you get it may already be shooting pretty hot. The various issues that people seem to bring up are usually quick fixes anyways.
EDIT: although if you don't care about the external feel, just get a TM, and it'll shoot trouble free for a long time (the externals feel pretty nice already anyways) |

The only issue with RS is the stock hard hopup rubber is better suited to 400+ fps setups rather than the 300-ish they shoot stock. Either swap the spring for something close to 400 or swap for a soft hopup rubber and you've got a gun that will shoot reliably, better and more accurately than most upgraded, and will take a beating that no other AEG can take.
Personally, I've never had an issue with mine that wasn't caused by shitty BBs, even with the stock hopup rubber. I don't game it much, but it's seen thousands of rounds of plinking and a few games and has never let me down.
