In Canada, the biggest advantage of the AGM clones are out the window, since you are still paying out of your butt for one, when they are supposed to be dirt cheap. While the idea of a cheap cost of admission for a clone GBBR is interesting, if you are planning to do something usable, reliable(or just plain pimp), and you don't want a WA plastic gun to start, you don't have to. WA system have been supported, to the point of you can get all the parts as "parts", and put one gun together, from cheaper end of parts from G&P and KA, to higher end stuff of Inokatsu or Prime(even RS upper receiver). So totally neglect the need for AGM "base gun", since you can't expect the pot metal internal and external to last anyway. If I were in Canada and was going to pay the markup to have someone bring in a GBB, you might as well have someone bring in a quality lower receiver(somehow) from Prime or G&P(depends on your price bracket), and go from there....

And if you want something playable out of the box with decent reliability and mag, WOCs are hard to beat since all the parts have been changed internally, mags been modded for propane use, and metal body is of decent quality(though not compatible with Prime/Ino parts). With investment of RA-Tech NPAS and you can get a decently reliable gun with adjustable FPS to boot.

As someone who has not worked on RS firearm, the parts aren't that difficult to go together, and there are lots of guides out there now...

I dont know about that.

If you want to get into GBBRs with no previous experience the AGM still makes more sense than scratching one from Prime etc parts. Hell a prime MBK would run as much as the AGM rifle in Canada according to the quotes I've gotten... And to be honest that is more than a little nuts. Even a WOC Rifle will run 1400 in Canada. At that price I can buy what 3.5 AGMs? I highly doubt there will be three critical receiver failures in a short period of time with these rifles.

Anyway, on to compatibility. I'm not sure why folks are suprised you can't swap uppers willy nilly. You can't even do that between CA/GP/KA etc. It is nothing new that the uppers aren't universal. These aren't real ARs, they aren't mil spec, it is airsoft. Will there be other Uppers/lowers for the AGM? I'm sure there will be, unlike the other GBBRs these have been selling like hotcakes and I'm willing to bet in 5-10 months there will be A1 uppers, lowers, trademarked ones etc. As for the bolts... Well from that RWA article the G&P bolt is actually the one that is out of spec, as the AGM matches the WA.

Anyway the other thing I've noticed with nearly all the AGM reviews so far, is that they are all useless. I've seen Youtube vids of factory AGMs dumping full mags on auto withouth noticible cool down, then you see the AATV where it only gets half way before freezing up... AATV claims the average Propane FPS is 410, RWA says 430.

So either there is really no QC in these rifles and it shoots using Harry Potter Fairy Dust as propellant, or they are bias/wrong. Only time will tell.

You have seen Andrew's "baseline" scratch builds before right?....his idea of a starting build level is about $1000. But he has no life and shoots horribly... (just kidding dude).

I might not wait as long as I'd hoped before jumping onto GBBR's...but I've certainly waited long enough to see first hand how well some of the work and which models to go with.

Now just to justify my needs with the horrible up-lift in cost to get one here...

there are no QC in AGM, because that would suggest engineering, which means tolerance and production control. which is why OEM guns costs money the way they do. It is actually possible that one AGM could be in the gravy zone and works perfectly fine and dandy(until the pot metal fails), and the next is completely out of tolerance and doesn't seal at all. That would not surprise me in the least since sealing gaseous substance is difficult simply due to the tolerance require, and all you need is to be out by a few thou and you'll be in the shitter.

The whole point I bring to the AGM, is that you are in the game at the lower cost, but if you start putting money in it after you either want to upgrade or fix broken part, you won't be that far off comparing to something like a WOC....which for all intents and purpose works, aside from minor receiver wobble on some that can be fixed with a $20 pin...

I've been looking into GBBR's a lot more recently...and trolling through Gas Guns Info forum

I'm sure a lot of you know about this site already, but if you're interested in WA/WE/AGM or any other GBBR...it's worth reading through their forum. TONS of good info there.

And specifically in re. to "I'll buy a cheap AGM and upgraded it with good parts...a la Kraken clean up...and then I'll end up with the same thing but save a bunch of money"...I highly doubt it...and it seems entirely likely that until you spend significant time/money/effort fixing it up, all you'll be left with is a half broken gun.

Cheers,

Tys
