I'm surprised yours is tight because when Karnage had it it was operating fine. As for the hop up, I can move it one way no problem just the other way is a bit harder. |

The pins seem like they are tight but they aren't. Push down on the back of the upper receiver near the charging handle (Basically pinching the upper and lower together) and they come out easily. I had many problems with mine when I first got it:
Cylinder O-ring was torn and didn't seal Forward assist button jammed Mag leaked, badly Horrible accuracy I fixed the O-ring with one bought at Home Hardware, it was larger than the original one though. My FPS jumped to about 420, whether it was the o-ring or not, I have no idea, I never chrono'd before the new o-ring. I bought some "Gasket Maker" as well, that fixed the mag and I can get off 2 mags easily with one charge, no leaks. Accuracy isn't what it should be, but this can be a couple of things like the barrel. I'm going to swap it out with a prometheus TB and see where that takes me. I know that they come stock with a tight bore, but does anybody know if they are good quality? So far, I would game it, as long as I had enough mags for one game.

Update,
Used a file in the hole where the rear body pin goes and now it's silky smooth. It didn't take much. I decided to take out my bolt and have a look at it. Turns out my piston's O-ring was torn (looks like a common problem from reading above). I went to home depot. I couldn't find any O-rings that size, there were only ones slightly undersized or oversized. I managed to find a rubber washer that was exactly the same size. The only difference is it's not tapered or rounded off like the stock seal or O-ring. Anyways, it seems to be working well enough, but I won't really know till I measure the FPS. I decided to inspect the bolt mainly because I saw a lot of gas being blown out the ejection port. Looked like a leak. As for the Mag, I took that apart and removed that plate on the side which contains a really badly designed gasket. I applied some silicon to both sides, reassembled and it doesn't leak anymore. Honestly, I can't wait till the CO2 mags come out, I'm getting really tired of how unreliable these mags are. For someone who doesn't at least have some knowledge of how an AEG or GBB works, they would be lost and basically stuck with a gun that doesn't work. Boo WE!!!! DB19, the O-ring you got from Home Hardware, was the inner diammeter the correct size? I had oversized O-rings at home too which would work, but O-rings tend to have a very large diammeter center. I doubt it would seal peoperly if the o-ring were moving around and not centered. I have a prometheus tight bore on my G&P AEG, will this fit on the WE? I've read somewhere that they need some hopup adaptors to make it fit. Anyways, nice to know that people are having the same problems and that I didn't just get a lemon. One of the bigger WE M4 suppliers, www.airsoftbuddy.com, has those main o-rings (part #122), available as a replacement, 5 for five bucks, plus shipping
If you haven't already, get onto Arnies Airsoft and check out their WE m4 review thread. Guys have run into some of these problems before, and come up with easy fixes already. The shredded o-ring can be prevented by using fine snadpaper to de-burr the part that o-ring slides into. I'll try and dig up some more precise info... WEs' website has a Exploded Parts Diagram for the M4

Check this site out. Being both both a WA and Inokatsu owner, it really helps out. I'm sure it will be of some help for WE owners. |

my western arms both i ever owned had failed in just under a week and honestly a word of advice use duster in a stock wa did research and the hopup chamber is made of plastic because aparently its not permitted to use higher gases in those regions where there made a big duster gun in my opinion, in any case i just bought a complete silver bolt and a hopup chamber from ra-tech so hopfully this should fix things im very curious

I'd be really hesitant to make those rear pins fit any looser. There is a reason they are a pain to get out and it's the same on the RS. Just use a corner of the mag to get it started and then the bottom of the mag to pry it out (you'll see what I mean).
Cheers, Grant |

The arnies thread can be found HERE
The guys at arnies are also pounding together a WE M4 Wiki with lots of the info from the thread condensed down for easy reference.

I got my WE M4 yesterday, and have done some garage goofing arounnd with it. So far, everything is excellent. I carried out some of the preventitive maintenence listed in the Wiki above (removed and loc-tite'd the #36 screw, and I'll shortly get around to polishing the cylinder that the #122 o-ring slides into), and it's worked flawlessly through about 10 mags. I can't test accuracy very well with only 20 odd feet of shooting distance, but my club is playing tomorrow, so I'll do some longer range testing and chrono it.
I won't actually be able to game it, since I've only got the one mag, sadly . I'm badly torn between ordering 6-8 current mags ($38 each + shipping is pretty reasonable), or to wait for either the 50 round PGC mags, or the WE Co2 mags. If only WE would make the Co2 mags with a slightly higher capacity then 30...

Well, it was cold up at our field (1 degree as per the outside temp unit in my car, with snow on the ground still), so the WE wasn`t super happy. That didn`t stop it from cranking off five shots through the chrono with a variation of only about 3 FPS. Problem was, that FPS was 396-398. On KSC .3`s. Yikes.
Thats a liiiiittle too hot to game with, but WE says they`ve got a number of custom valve kits coming out so you can tailor your power levels to what you need. Some of those valves with the Co2 mags, and I`m set.

Update and warning to those of you who have placed orders with airsoftbuddy or are planning to.
I placed an order for some spare parts almost a month ago. I've been contacting him every 2-3 days for the past 3 weeks. I got 2 emails from him 2 weeks ago telling me that I would get a tracking number. Till this day, I have yet to receive any parts or my tracking number. 3 days ago I filled a claim with paypal, we'll see what happens. When I use to get my parts from ehobby asia, I would get them in 3-4 days from the time I placed the order. Another member on this board has also had some problems. He placed an order and only after filing a claim did he receive the tracking number. He received his parts in 1-2 weeks time. However, my purchase seems to be a lost cause. Just a warning to anyone thinking of buying from them. Their customer service sucks and their business is REALLY half assed. Honestly, if you're not equipped to do any sort of business. DON'T! I've heard that only 1 guy runs the operation, but that's not my problem. I'll update you guys as I find out more. |
