Im more concerned about the paint or annodization techniques used. Is it just me or to China models metal parts smell weird. The aluminum used in my CA has no smell, but whenever i open a china model box, it has this weird smell to it. And i dont mean put my nose to it and sniff, i mean it radiates out of the box.

or maybe its just me and im crazy

if you must know...
I was thinking I'd propose on a nice beach by finding an oyster that I'd hid the ring in.
Open it up expecting a pearl.

Diamond are you doing lines off your AEG's or something O-o?

Who the hell "smells" their gun? I mean there's the fondle out the box, but golly sounds like you got some sort of "pantie sniff" going on when you get your AEG's going on there or something....

I highly doubt Dboys will have any acute/chronic effects on your health...

However, all that shit you smoke, drink, eat, etc will.... I'd be more concerned about everyday items that you put inside yer belly/lungs on purpose.

Good thing I couldn't give a rat's ass.

That smell is likely either Mothballs or white gas aka Naphtha. My cousin lives in HK and works as a QC engineer in an undisclosed export based business and they use Naphtha to cleaning agent and apparently in some kind of gaseous form to fumigate cargo containers. This is particularly common with low end wood and paper products.

thats probably it. seeing as i store my AEG boxes next to the guns in their case, thats probably the sourse of the smell.

i wash my hands if i handle china made stuff since i hear too many stories of their stuff having a high lead content. hence why i try to stay away from it. now that being said, too much lead wont kill you or fuck you up right away, its if you are constantly exposed to it. so if you lick your Dboys everyday, than i would worry. but again, i have OCD, so i definitely try to stay away from the "problem guns" as i call them.

I'd maybe emphasize that small amounts of lead CAN cause problems, but lead isn't absorbed through the skin (unless there's a break in the skin), only through mouth and nose or mucous membrane. It's always a good idea to wash your hands, regardless what you're touching, anyway (is there a "wash your hands" song?).

Lead builds up in your body, so it does require a degree of exposure, and can lead to neurological or other health issues. Maybe of special concern to those with children, lead can affect brain development in children -- so make sure they keep anything with even trace amounts of lead out of their mouths, and wash their hands if they touch any white metal (Chinese or not). Lead can leach through finishes like paint.

Oh for gods sake, somebody think of the children!

Seriously, as far as risk management is concerned, I have more important thinks to consider than if a recreational toy might contain lead, which if ingested in sufficient quantities might lead to health problems...

There are people out there who make a lot of money to scare the public with shit like this, exaggerating the risk to the point where the absence of product X in their version makes it a marketing edge.

It's bullshit.

Sure, you probably don't want to make a habit out of swallowing lead. But seriously, it takes more than a casual contact with the shit to make you sick.

EVERYTHING that comes from Hong Kong/China has a weird smell. I've ordered tons of crap from HK, and it's always the EXACT same smell when I open the box.

At my job we usually let Box from China vent for a day before taking the stuff out of it because of the smell.

BTW, from what I've heard, this is also their New Car smell.
