Serious question: why do airsofters use the term "silencer"?

How 'bout a heavily used silencer?

(You pay shipping and it's yours)

Actually the term is "Silence her" and you do that by putting a bag over her head. If you hear the phrase too often, it means your girlfriend is ugly and you should probably move on...

Anyways the point YOU CANT FUCKEN SILENCE OR "SUPRESS" YOUR AIRSOFT GUN!!!
your supressor will do nothing your gearbox and motor and piston makes all the noise. in a real firearm yes it does work. so my point is: silencers are just waste of usefull upgrades money

and i dont mean to be an ass but its true

Maybe you should try one out first....

GBB's suppressors work the best (MK23 anyone?)

AEG suppressors due quite the gun down ALLOT! I ran one on my 416 since day one, then one day I forgot it at home when I went to a game. I thought my gun was going to explode because it was so loud. Wasn't until I threw the suppressor back on and realized how much the sound is lessened.

Just remember you can get two kinds of suppressors for airsoft, the ones with foam inserts that actually work, and the ones that have no foam and are only for looks.

I can vouch for the MK23. One of the guys I play with got one recently and was showing it off. It was quiet as hell with it on and when he took it off it was noticeably louder.

And to make a parallele, in french, a silencer is a "silencieux" and there is no french therme for a supressor. It would translate to a "éliminateur" wich make no sense. That's why most french speaking lads will keep saying a silencer.

To push the theory furder. Silence is the absence of noise. But you never have an absolute silence unless in the void of space. Even there, the human hear will generate it's own noises. So Silence is relative. Making a gun silent is also relative to the embiant serounding and the regular output of sound of a gun. So silencing a gun is making it more quiet. Like the silencer of a car. You can still hear the car up close, but not 1 mile away compared to the same car without the silencer.

I went a bit deep here, but my point is that we can't be too anal about 2 thermes that depict the same thing.
Perfect. Silencer it is then! haha

Thats incorrect, my P90 report is almost completely nixed with the stock supressor provided. Unless you bring the barrel out to the end of the supressor, they maker a big difference on the muzzle report.

It has to be the quietest gun I have ever owned.

Why do you ALWAYS revive dead threads with useless info that people have already said?

Fixed,

And I think your education was a waste of taxpayer money. Most Airsoft Supressors/Silencers DO work. It makes considerable change to the sound of the report. Before ranting and swearing on the forums about things you dont know, Go do some research...
And for christ sake, learn to spell.

Especially on a gun over 350 fps the supressor and a silent cylinder/piston head can make a very noticable difference. Especially from the receiving end. Much of the sound energy you hear is transmitted to your ear through the stock, the supressor will not help that one bit.
Cheers,
Grant
