No they don't. That's an urban legend that won't go away for some strange reason. There are many cases of mags being stored for decades and firing just fine. A guy I have trained with left his G26 mag fully loaded in his glove for 4 years and it worked fine.
Spring material wears out from use, not from holding a static position for long periods of time.

Because Systema mags aren't hicaps (WTF?). And many people don't use hicaps with their normal AEGs either.

I think springs wear out by holding the fully compressed position because this is not the memory position for the metal. Last edited by wKnight; January 17th, 2008 at 13:26.. |

And the smaller/thinner the spring the more you'll notice the deformation/creep/sagging out in it's lifetime. Mechanical torque wrench, pistol mag, sooner than something like a coil spring in a car.

BBs going into funnels really sucks. I've tried that a couple times, the BBs keep getting jammed up in the hole (have tried a few different funnels). Seems the only way to get a funnel to work right is to drop a few BBs at a time into it, and that's about the same as not using a funnel.

That's to release the spring tension, and make sure the spring is in it's relaxed state. I assume you mean "why do we cycle it a few times on semi after playing".
