No, they really shouldn't. How can anyone else help you choose a gun you need!? It's all about YOUR style and how YOU play! YOU decide what you want in a gun and which one best suits your role and playing style!

My TM M4A1 lasted about 10 000 rounds of fairly gentle use before the spur gear stripped all to shit. So I wouldn't say they don't break down...

I'd personally buy a gun you never hear problems about (probably because they aren't as popular. Thompson, SIG 552, P90, G3?

Only guns that 'don't break down' are Systema PTW's. And even those might break down.

Stock TM or upgraded? I think what most people mean is that TM AEGs offer the best quality and longevity in their stock condition. Considering the price you pay.

It was completely stock and bought brand new.

you got one of the rare lemons from TM. i should imagine that they are so rare, you could sell it for twice its worth, cause they are so hard to come buy.
i kid of course, that does suck. its too bad that you got a lemon |

While it was a pain in the ass, it's not that bad. I was already planning on converting the gun to a C8A2, to upgrade the bushings, gears and spring even before I received it. I bought it for that very purpose. I was quite happy with it in its stock form though. All the gear failiure did was accelerate that upgrade plan.
I've since installed a Modify high torque modular gear set, a Prometheus MS110SP spring, and a C8 metal body. Cosmetically it's not done yet, but getting there. Still haven't got it all working properly yet though. This is my first AEG and my first time upgrading, so naturally I ran into some snags. I hope to have that remedied this weekend. But if not, there's no rush. I still have my CA M15A4 rifle to use in the meantime, as well as a couple of other AEGs I should be receiving within the coming weeks. But it looks good!
