Lol, that'd be funny, having a sensor built in that senses lateral movement and turns the signal off.

gotta have the turn signals on the back of the guy on point in CQB too - then they don't have to take their hands off their gun! hmmm maybe a brake light too.... lol

I think they're pretty useful.. especially if you're calling in for some close-air. But, watching them cry trying to get their 14lbs CQBR up'n'ready is pretty great. Last edited by Lakonian; December 14th, 2007 at 13:32.. |

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really thought the PEQ comes with an "illuminator" which I take to mean "flashlight". Does the G&P clone come with a flashlight? What exactly is an "illuminator"?
I am just starting out this hobby, and want to get my equipment right the first time. I don't want to waste time and money on junk that I will discard later. May I ask: just what equipment is actually used in an airsoft match? 1) Laser pointers? 2) flashlights? 3) scopes? I'm thinking with the short range of airsoft, and the way lasers and flashlights give you away, that much of this equipment are just dressing right? Or am I wrong? How is this equipment used in a match? Thanks!! |

actually I'd like to extend my question to red dot scopes with x1 magnification.
I like the ACOG from G&P, because it looks "authentic", but I'm thinking - "is x4 magnification even useful in airsoft?" Are those red dot scopes with x1 magnification good enough? Can the G&P ACOG clone reduce the magnification to x1 so it's the best of both worlds? Thanks for the insight and patience! |

Most fields don't allow you to use LASERs.
I've never used a flashlight (but they look cool on some guns) an in CQB You can blind people! Scopes & Optics generally a good idea. Helps you aim better at distance. 1x Is no magnification. Think about it: 1 * X = X. RDSs and Reflex Scopes are good for lining up a shot quickly or shooting with both eyes open. The power you need on a scope is (in my opinion) really dependent on the gun. There isn't a point putting a 40X scope on a gun that can only shoot 60ft and conversely a 4x is useless on a sniper rifle. I use an RDS on my P90. I have a 4x replica SUSAT on my L85 and it works fine for what I need it for. My L96 and the AUG-A2P both have 40X Scopes on them. I also have a replica ACOG that is 4x that I sometimes used on the AUG aswell. This stated I use iron-sights alot too.

The best thing to do, IMO, is to play with your AEG stock for a while. Get used to the irons and develop your skills. After that, look into an M68 Close Combat Optic, or Aimpoint. G&P makes a cheap one. Or check out www.1337tactical.com. And unless you are gunna go down the snipxxor path, you don't really need a scope with magnification. Especially if your AEG is stock. If you are going to be playing indoors pick up a Surefire. It's good that you wanna do it right the first time. I just picked stuff up without researching when I first started. I regret it now. I am trying to complete an impression, but I have to re-buy certain things, because I didn't know better. As for lasers, not all fields allow them so check before you go splurge on one. You might want to check out an AN/PEQ5 Carbine Visual Laser (CVL), made by G&G, if you want a nice one. But again, those are all things I would buy. Find out what you like, research pictures and ask around. Then go and complete your loadout.

brilliant. Pretty much answers all my questions (except 1).
Regarding the ACOG: can the magnification be reduced to x1? I know x1 is no magnification! My point was that I think I see pretty good without magnification for airsoft ranges - I don't need magnification, it just looks cool to have a scope. I was just wondering whether in real-life, is it typical to have a x1 magnification "scope" that has a red-dot, or are those things just stuff for airsoft (made to imitate scopes that would have some magnification in real-life?). Plus, the second part of the question was about the G&P ACOG clone in particular - can it zoom out to x1 magnification, so I can use it without magnification for most of the time, but zoom in for those moments when it might be cool? That way, I can just save up and get ONE scope, rather than buy one of those x1 magnification scopes for normal use, and then an ACOG for those rare moments when I might want "some" magnification. Thanks!!! |

Most replica 4x scopes that I have seen are fixed magnification.
Again RDS and Reflex sights are used to let you line-up your shots quickly or so you can "holosight" and use both eyes to shoot. If you line up the dot using your primary eye and then open your second, the dot will appear to float in mid air and you are able to shoot with both eyes open. RDSs are used in real-life in CQB or anything that requires close-range shooting has has limited time to line up your shot. For example. In Toronto anytime you see a picture of the ETF their guns are usally fitted with a reflex sight.
