Some of those prices are a little higher than what you can get if you look around, but not that far off.

I am currently building a gun from scratch and I think it is quite a reasonable cost for me getting what. I am building a m4
Here is my price list, some things I have others are still on order.

G&P Zombie Killer Body $195.00
Pro-Win Mech box $240.00
Motor $55.00
Gear set $65.00
Inner Barrel $45.00
King Arms CASV $190.00
Madbull DNTC Flash hider $35.00
King Arms G27 Hand grip $30.00
Locking Body Pins $13.00
King Arms Sniper Trigger Guard $10.00
King Arms M4 Furniture $40.00
VFC CQD Sling Mount $10.00
Guarder Silicon Hop $6.00
TM Silther Stock $20.00
TM MP7 Rear flip up sight (FREE I owed already)
King Arms Fore Grip Handle $10.00 used

So I am at $964.00, I know there will be a few things I will need after that will push this close to $1000, but it is way cheapier then buying a stock TM M4A1 and building up from that (WITH A PRO-WIN)

TM M4A1 $580.00 (www.007airsoft.com)
G&P Zombie Killer Body $195.00
Pro-Win Mech box $240.00
Motor $55.00
Gear set $65.00
Inner Barrel $45.00
King Arms CASV $190.00
Madbull DNTC Flash hider $35.00
King Arms G27 Hand grip $30.00
all totaling $1435.00

I think i am going about it a better way and I will have the rifle I want with the goodies I want.

I do have a confident gunsmith building my gun though.

this is going to be my 5th gun. I upgraded 2 already and started from a TM platform....
BUILDING A GUN FROM SCRATCH SHOULDN'T BE DONE IF IT IS YOUR FIRST AEG.

I can only imagine how pissed I would have been if I had an uber super gun build that crapped out if it was my first gun.... it takes a while to figure out that mo $$$ = mo problems, this is as true in a Jay-z didy as it is in airsoft.... ask a PTW owner, $60.00 a mag DAMN

prometheus are generally considered to be the best from what i have heard/read. in short, you can't go wrong with a prometheus. i have heard NOTHING bad about the 6.03. as for the M16, i think its around 500mm ish?

M16 barrel length is 509mm. PDI makes a fine barrel as well, and there are some custom options out there you may wish to consider.

Hehe, my first AEG was a crappy MP5 that I used for one game, and my second current AEG is an AUG which I upgraded myself (for the first time), and now the gun I'm building is my third AEG, which I'm building myself :P

Well since people are posting the projects they are working on, here's my scratch build M4 project.

KA Troy CQB Flashhider - 35.00
DF 6.02 Inner Barrel - 39.00
HurricanE HK/M4 Sights - 84.00
Hurricane HK417 Stock - 110.00
SYO 9.6V 2400mAh - 50.00
GP Sniper Trig. Guard - 10.00
Magpull PTS MIAD Grip - 40.00
Huang Seals Metal Body - 140.00
DBoys CASV Handguard - 70.00
SystemA 1 Piece Hopup - 20.00
TM EG1000 Motor - 30.00
GP Delta Ring Set - 27.00
KA 10.5" Outer Barrel - 49.00
KA M4 Locking Body Pins - 14.00
SystemA Comp. Mechbox - 214.00

Total comes to $932.00. I am just waiting on the inner barrel and the locking body pins (which I just ordered when I read it in this thread) I've never assembled a metal body before and I have no instructions for it, so I'm trying to find some one to do that, but the rest should be no problem. If I can find the time.

I hope I haven't forgotten anything, but if I have I've got an A&K M4 I can grab parts from. I'll post up pics when I get it finished. Looking forward to seeing some of the other M4s people are building.

Deathbot you should look at the King Arms COMPLETE CASV, it comes with the cool flip up front sight, outer barrel, d-ring and CASV for $190 shipped. Thats not much more then just you ourter barrel, casv and d-ring purcahses plus it is 10000000 x the quality of the dboys

Yeah, I saw that. The problem was that when I started the project I was just going to do a few quick mods on the A&K CQB that I bought. But as I started buying things, and then more things, I soon found myself an outer barrel and inner barrel away from a whole AEG. So here I am, with an M4 in boxes and another CQB M4 that I will probably end up selling.

My only problem now is trying to find the time to get it assembled. Loads of overtime this month and next month. I had been trading emails with Ken at 007 to see if he could just do the complete build for me, but I havent heard back from him in a while.
