18+ and why
1. Minimum age required for you to have a replica firearm in your possession.
2. Minimum age required to be legaly responsible for your own actions. 3. Minimum age required to be left in the company of adults you don't know. 4. minimum age required to offer legal consent and sign documents as a person. The 18+ thing has nothing to do with "maturity" and everything to do with legallity. I know lots of people who are 2x18 that are immature... one is typing this right now... just ask my wife. I don't think we should make this site 18+ as a lot of people get hooked into the scene before they are 18 and become valuable contributing members. The youth, Gods help us, are our future.. excluding them excludes the possibility of a future for this activity. I will allow people 16 and older participate when they are accompanied by their legal guardian, and that guardian will be participating with them.. but they have to stay together. That is my choice as a host.. I am certain other hosts have the same policy on a case by case basis.

Ok, could we still PM ( Regional verificators for example ) ?
If yes then I don't see why not, it would force the noobs to go to actual games to meet people and talk with them |

The idea sounds better and better as we talk about it.
At the very least, even though that same little voice is telling me its a bad idea, maybe one place could be left available to post in. Like having a place for the unverified to post in the case the they do have a question that has not been answered. It would eventually become more garbled than the asc trash can but well, its only an idea. I ate most of the damn cheese cake. I think I might have to take the afternoon off and go home and sleep.

Maybe there could also be some kind of Welcome thread ( like the one we had in the past ) for noobs to just present themselves before posting anything.

Noobs are part of the game. Sooner or later that 16 yearo old becomes a 18 year old nood at his first game.
And who doesn't like owning the crap out of noobs???? It's great!! |

Then again everyone of the exceptions I have listed have grown up with Airsoft around them. they all know the concerns and issues the adults have with the minors. Maybe the minors reading this should look at that list.. we are old enough to be your parents in some cases. Your parents have to hang around you.. we don't. Yes it is. but it is a community focused on Adults.

I got hooked on Airsoft since I was like 14. I'm now nearly 18 ans still wiating to get my own AEG. In that space of time, I went to several games, talked to a lot of people. I think that's just what noobs should do, this way you get known by the locals and when you have the age you're more than welcome..Simple as that

You are right. ASC was a community. Now, it's just a fragment of what it used to be.

I got a good one.
Why not let the underage less then 18 post? While you guys admit that some over the age 18+ act immature? What if there are new members that are over 18 and don't know some stuff about airsoft? So how will number 2 happen? You guys will still see the same post by noobs over and over. Am I right? |

You are not so important that the sport will die without your participation. If you're still interested when you're old enough, then welcome aboard. Until then, read all you want. |
