My 2cents. Grab a new spring and a Laylax piston head. I got mine and it's awesome.

Might also be coming from the cocking handle spring. Take it off and see if the that sound is still there.

Oh another question, with the upgrades listed and the Prometheus MS100SP spring, what kind of battery should I be using? I was looking at the G&P Crane Stock with the 9.6V 2200mAh but all I have now is 8.4V 1200mAh mini...

The 9.6V battery will give you a faster rate of fire, but also wear down your internals faster. With a MS100SP spring, you really don't need it. Tokyo Marui AEGs are made to run on 8.4V batteries anyway.

If you do get a crane stock, it would be to fit a bigger 8.4V battery that will last longer than a mini. You can save money by simply buying a backup battery instead. In therory, your current 1200mAh battery, fully charged, should give you close to 1000 shots.

A mini can power an MS100SP spring just fine. You have absolutely no need to go up to 9.6v - in fact, a battery with voltage that high can strip your piston faster if you fire a lot in full auto.
