There is a theory that CA internals in general are somewhat tougher than say, TM's, and thus more able to support the increased ROF generated by a 9.6v. It is supported by some facts, but I haven't seen any real extensive studies on the issue. Also, before the advent and spread of Intellect cells, certain 8.4v minis were found to be very poor performers when used in CA guns due to the M100 spring, hence something of an existing preference for 9.6v among some CA users.

I see, I was thinking about putting a Systema M100 spring tho to up my FPS, but a 8.4v would go slower tho I think with that.

All CA AEGs come with a Systema M100.

No they don't.

The M15 series manual claims you can put a 12V battery into the gun, though that was likely intended for people with 500 fps springs and such. A 9.6V battery isn't going to accellerate wear on your internals versus an 8.4V any appreciable amount, though you'll find yourself going through BBs more quickly and your rate of fire will be well above average for a gun of this type. Remember Manitoba is Milsim Central so bullet hoses are frowned upon. I run a 7.2V large battery in my M15A4 Tac Carbine and get an excellent rate of fire but with a stock spring.

If you're planning to upgrade to a stronger spring a 9.6V would be a decent investment now, but with stock internals it's not necessary. The Intellect 8.4V 1400 will carry you a long way for the time being.

What do they come with? 8O A long time ago I read it being something like a M100, and the FPS given corresponds with a M100. I've always wondered what exactly the spring was, if it's not a M100, what is it?

Correct me if Im wrong, but TM used to suggest running their guns with 7.2v batteries...or you could go with the bigger "hyper command 8.4v" battery.

The general idea is that AEGs are ment to run 8.4v its the safest way and if an 8.4v large wont crank your spring, you have problems. I could crank a 190% with a 8.4v no problem.

they prolly come with a CA spring. TM makes their own springs, as do other manurfacturers, i dont see why CA doesnt make their own.

CA makes (buys?) their own springs. The stock one is probably a 90 m/s as the advertised muzzle velocity is 85-95 m/s. In any case they're definitely not Systema springs. Some guns probably use a 100 m/s spring as their stock velocity is consistently closer to 95 m/s like my SAR M41FS (320 fps). Remember every manufacturer names their springs differently which only serves to confuse buyers; a Systema M120 is not a Classic Army 120 is not a Guarder SP120 is not a Prometheus MS120SP is not a Top Power 120%.

I had a 400 fps spring in my AK, and currently have one in my M249. A 7.2V 3000 mAh NiMH turns them both no problem.

Hm, mystery springs, eh? Makes me want to upgrade a little more. Are you sure some CA have a 90m/s spring? I thought they were all 100m/s, since even short barrelled CAs like the G36C chronied better than its TM counterpart. I figured the fps difference between CA and TM came from just the spring, since both have the same inner barrel diameter and rules of cylinder porting.

Regardless of the potential wear you could experience from going up to a 9.6v battery. After trying a 9.6v in a brand new CA AUG A1, which should behave similarily to the gun in question, I'm not going to try it again. Semi was fine but full-auto was absolutely ridiculous. Sounded like the gun was going to break in half. There was a distinct noise level increase as well.
