(So they just randomly pop up) They had some Arcteryx V series jackets, but they were as much as the LEAF products. Not much selection due to the limited sizing of gear.
I tried to order some LEAF. They told me it is never in stock and made to order. Sometimes long waits. But, when they so get orders in, there is always factory seconds, but they often get bought in lots by Millbrook, 911 Supply or other retailers.

Yeah, even at half price Arcteryx is still fairly expensive. And I'm doubtful seconds resold by other retails are discounted that deep.

Millbrook has some sort of sign-up on their website. Waiting to see what happens out of that.

Seconds vary based on the amount of non-compliance, but expect 50-75% of MSRP for pricing.

DS also carries Arc'Teryx.

The salesman told me that DS Tactical is the only store in BC that gets new Arcteryx LEAF gear.

Probably true.

LEAF second do end up at the outlet store though; kind of a right place right time thing.

If you are more on a budget, i can recommend the Tru-Spec rain gear.

LEAF Seconds, as well as discontinued items end up in the North Vancouver dead bird store. Worth going to it.

I recommend the LEAF Alpha and matching pant. Got mine on the old LEAF discount

I've had mine in "Oaks Brown" aka Coyote Brown for a few months now and love it. The jacket can be stuffed into one of it's front pockets for stowage. It also happens to be under your budget and locally available at the MEC downtown Toronto.

Picked up a Torrrentshell from the Patagonia store today. I considered getting the brown one from MEC, but in the end opted for grey. Its not green or tan; and I would have preferred something in the foliage/ranger-green colour spectrum, but the only green they had was an iffy-looking forest green.

I considered trying the Tru-Spec ECWS parka but at the moment light and packable is my main priority, plus I couldn't find anywhere to try it on in-person.

Am expecting to do some hiking in the rain this weekend, should be a good first test.

The guy at the store was saying the jacket will delaminate over time, depending on use. Does anyone know if milsurp Goretex suffers from this issue?

Goretex is a laminate material, and like any laminate it will come apart, it is inevitable. The question is how long and under what conditions. I have seen well worn USGI woodland goretex that was full of holes, but not delaminated. I would expect that if you forked out the $$$$ for Arcteryx, they would warranty such a thing.

I bought my surplus set because it was unworn, and the price was right. Not a fan of the liner in the jacket, I would rather it be just a goretex shell.
