I still find it funny that people don't wear head protection in panther and only expose their head then expecting people not to shoot them in the face.

Really wish there is a field here that doesn't get paint all over my stuff, it's annoying sharing with paintball stuff, but that's how it is, and it's gonna stay probably. Yeah, I'm just gonna buy a IWI Tar-21 elite with some mid-cap mags from someone. Its about 130 bucks more than that stupid bolt sniper, but I'm sure he can have fun with this one...I just thought to myself last night..I work pretty hard, why not get something nice..just add it to my own collection..Although I have to disable the EBB function of that gun..(I always wanted a tar-21, but it seems that EBB is the best one)
IIRC, Ambush is BYOBB and I think they lowered their price from $30 to $25 recently. Never been so will probably drop by at some point. Though I'm looking to try out one of Trigger's games ran at Northshore monthly, $15 & BYOBB so worth a look.

Need full face protection at panther... seen too many guys get lit up in the face by drop ins or assholes. I wear a headset as well since I don't want free piercings either. Too many guys ignoring MED's and running hot guns full auto. That and Panther's chrono is not even close to being accurate; my ~500fps BA chrono'd ~407fps...

So until Panther realizes no one wants to pay that much for shitty field and gameplay and lowers the price, or actually improves field and gameplay to where its actually worth the price, I'm boycotting the field like a number of other players.

I went to northshores website, can't find any info for airsoft, only paintball (the comment thing about airsoft games: website suck) I'm a web designer and it irritates me. anyway, they all require bio BBs right? well still cheaper to buy on my own than buying from a field which charges 10-15 for 1000 bbs..that's just stupid. Then they run a long unlimited respawn game and oh, you just used like 300-500bbs on semi yay..

Problem with panther, the field actually doesn't seem safe for night game. There are huge pointy tree branches pointing upwards and those huge ditches in the "grave yard". In a day game I realized how close I was to fall in a couple of ditches..

shooting in the face part, it is permitted by the ref/ rules if the target only exposed their head. but sometimes bbs just fly towards someones face because of wind and not able to aim anyway...and panther didn't have a MED, at least the ref never explained to anyone, and never chrono any guns. Again, rules and such needs to be posted on the website so people can read up before going!

Anyway, got the IWI Tar-21. Need to practice how to quick reload now with that. depending on accuracy, might swap out to a tight bore at some point..still remember the first time installing a madbull tightbore in my P90, it shoots really straight.

Yeah, I will phone them to check out those fields..

Check out Trigger's fb page for the game announcements, the last game was last Saturday I think. I just heard about it recently so hopefully I'll have a chance to head out there, although I think it might be a night game... I'm not sure if NS actually requires bio's but I've converted over so my entire bb stock is bio anyways.

I've only been to two drop in games, rest have been sims, or games w/ the omega/lmag guys. The most recent drop in was super shitty which reflects what people have been saying about the 'drop in' game quality (unintended pun ). The other drop in game was a few rounds of decent attack/defend which played out ok but that was sometime last year and I think it was ran by a veteran player not panther staff.

Yeah... every time I see those graves I wonder why they don't fill them in. No one goes in there cause of the shitty muck and they're an unnecessary safety hazard even in the day. I've almost gone in once or twice pushing up on church.

As for some of the branches...

(stolen from imgur's combat medic stories)

They should clear it up a bit in some areas. Every time I run into a pointy branch that's screaming "I'M GONNA IMPALING SOMEONE" I just step on it and snap it as best I can.

Oh if the head's the only target then its fair game, but I've seen too many guys get lit up in the face by noobs around corners and at point blank on full auto... full face protection all the time. I don't fancy a line of bleeders or a busted lip/teeth.

There are MED's I just don't know if Panther enforces them (or any rules to be frank). I've heard mentions of semi only within 10-30feet and secondary requirements for BA's but I really doubt the new players running the 500fps BA's can judge distance properly... no BA certification requirement and all that... They've started chrono'ing as of late, but I doubt that its any good since their pb chrono is shitty as hell and measures off anywhere from 50-100fps..

There's a whole wealth of rules/guides/games/MED's made by BCAC/OPFOR/LMAG/OMEGA in the past decade or so available to them if they want to take advantage of it... but imho, after Milsig acquired Panther, its just a money grabbing scheme. Yeah, they've physically improved some things like the parking lot and driveway but they should've really focused on improving quality of game play before anything else... sit down, plan out some designated game types for different parts of the field, don't just head out there and be like "attack and defended, unlimited spawns 15mins then lunch break".

Haven't actually seen that many Tar-21's around, gl w/ the upgrades and your buddy. I planned on getting some friends into it as well this summer but I doubt any of mine would be interested after seeing the new pricing... they'd rather stick w/ late night badminton at $15 lol.

I just called ambush and got redirected to vanops..it is $25 for entry and it seems you can bring your own BBs..i will give them a try sometime. And yeah, for upgrades I probably have to order from Evike or some USA companies, they carry more upgrades than many stores combined in Canada.

The truth is that all i need is probably just a tightbore, deans, and I have some madbull rubber. Unless the internal breaks, I'm not going to be upgrading anything. I highly doubt it will since I run a 7.4v lipo and I'm very light on the trigger.

If milsig acquired panther, that explains why the fee. That over priced shop didn't make me like them anyway. Their marketing tactic: make something super expensive, then slap a sale sign for 60% off. Now it's the same price as other retailers but with a "on sale" title. I can only hope, they make the site safer then I would consider it again..

I haven't been to any games since last year November probably. Lot of work hours and school, but now I have my summer off with a part time job just chilling. And of course the field fees didn't appeal to a lot of my friends because there are options that barely require money like tennis, and cycling.

Lol, yeah, you're spot on about Milsig/Honorcore... They pretty much cater to the gulliable/uninformed noobs and the loaded mainlanders. But I rarely buy local unless I desperately need a part, and even then I usually head to Trigger if they have the part; still a bit overpriced but more reasonable than Milsig.

The day Milsig announced they acquired Panther, prices went straight up. Originally entry alone was like $35 (+$15 bb) or something until ppl on facebook complained and they brought it down to $25... Also pretty funny how only airsoft gets the price hike while paintball stays the same (though they did the increase price and new discount price thing to make it look like they decreased the price).

If you haven't been since November, they've done some improvements to the field but nothing special. Dunes has a bit of a make over (meh) and parking lot paved, a bit of minor "aesthetic fixes" and that's about it. Wouldn't bother going back until game quality improves and/or price gets lowered to a reasonable amount for quality of field/play.

Finding info for BC is close to impossible. Panther's site lists almost no info (FPS, MED, START TIME OF GAMES!?) and didn't even know about VanOps till now.

Which is best for a first time player (group in our 30's) VanOps or Panther?

I've been going by the local rules I've absorbed over the years but LMAG has a nice rule book which pretty much outlines what most fields generally go with FPS/MED wise.

LMAG airsoft rulebook

Lots of good reference info there, FPS/MED stuff is on pg 7-8.

I'm not exactly sure what Panther goes by tbh, as everything seems up in the air with them. No real established rules to be found or anything really, just the general safety speech but even then a lot of the new players I've talked to have no idea about MED's and such, doubt most of the players know how to judge MED distance tbh.

Panther also doesn't require/enforce certifications for BA's in the 450-500fps range and I've only seen vet/older players enforce MED's from time to time.

As for starting times at Panther, generally it seems like games start around 11ish or so with all the delays and stuff. Most guys hit the field earlier around 8-10 though to prep.

I haven't tried Ambush, its a smaller field but its not bad from what I've heard, an AAR from last week on fb gave a positive review. Should have a decent showing this weekend with all the guys looking for an alternative to Panther's new prices. Panther atm is just overpriced for what it is and drop in games have been meh, but either field should be fine for a first game.

That said, Ambush/Vanops is BYOBB and Panther is field bb's/pay to use your own bb's on top of entry fee.

i didn't go to ambush (vanops) yet. panther had rules posted before, and that was before the change of hand. ambush's rules are clearly listed on the site so it's easy.

Panther start at 10am on Saturday and Sunday also do Thursday night games at like 6pm? again this info is before the change of hand. before the post said 400fps max, 330 pistol? MED??? They also never answer any emails I sent them asking for these.
