Yeah i read about the pneumatic blowback and how it does do more damage through time, didnt know about air leak though. Is the LCT 74u i linked ebb? Tbh I dont really like the blowback it always does more harm than good in general

To my knowledge, none of the current LCT's have provision for blow-back - pneumatic or electric.

You linked to the AKS-74 - not the 74U. I have the full wood stock variant of that, the LCT AK74 (NV version) and it's a rock-solid rifle.

I also have the LCT AKMSU (NV version) - it needs a mag-well plate, but other than that, again, a rock-solid rifle.

You can't really go wrong with choosing an LCT NV version - just make sure it's a variant that works for you.

Yeah I meant the aks that I linked not 74u, just confused the two. So you have it? how are the internals for NV? rock solid? is it all steel? I know LCT externals are excellent but how are you finding the internals? Oh and is the selector switch solid? I heard numerous things about it not being able to switch freely or as easily.

No complaints about the internals, for the use that they have had. AKMSU shoots at 390 fps and the AK74 at 400 fps with 20's, with little FPS variance. The selector switches on both are crisp and solid. I have not had either gun apart to inspect the internals - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, is my philosophy.

That appears to be the version that i have. It is an NV version - made post-2010. I bought both of my LCT's used - actually, barely used.

These are my first AK's.. i prefer the classic wood look over polymer or tactical.

As far as my own LCT's go .. the AK74's wood is nice. It was out at an op, in which it was subjected to 12 hours of non-stop rain, and lots of rough treatment .. still looks great, and will look even better with more weathering. Very minor wood-splits under the butt-plate due to immersion soaking and drying out, but nothing that is threatening to travel out and compromise the overall structure of the stock.

The wood is stained (as seen in the photo) and has several layers of lacquer as applied by LCT.

External fit and finish of both LCT's is spot-on for quality.

The AK74 is a long rifle - it is as long as my M14 socom. As such, it isn't the most versatile of the AK series in all game scenarios. It is a relatively heavy rifle. I would suggest trying on for size, before you buy, an LCT full-stock AK74.

That all said, both shoot straight like fricken' lazer beams.

haha lazer beams, well its good to know that the gun is accurate, and yea full size rifles are usually long but as long as an m14? damn even longer than what I have thought, I will surely need to feel it beforehand because I am not a fan of long rifles. That is also why a foldable might be much more suitable, especially for CQB

Here is a purely half-arsed photo-comparison of the rifles in my little collection, currently. I do have a regular length M14, but it's in pieces, likely to remain in pieces, and not in the current picture.

The M14 shown in this photo is an M14 Socom16 .. the shortened 16" barrel 'dmr' version. I believe the regular, original length M14 is 20", so it would be longer than an AK74 by 4" or so.

man the barrel length is insane, yeah I don't think a full stock ak is the right choice it is way too long but thanks for the comparisons between the M4s, I now have a better idea of how it looks.
