I will be working on mine this week. I will post up pictures of my setup.
I am liking yours by the way! Just need to put in a 555 timer hooked up to a motion sensor or add in a wireless remote and you are golden. |

I like your motion sensor idea! I will get some motion sensor module as well.

oh! some advice. I am switching from a rotary motor to a linear motor (Actuator).
It will keep it smaller, lighter and with a crisper motion. We shall see how it goes..... |

Haven't thought about actuator (gee, I am light years behind the trend), but it will definitely make this more reliable, as the current version requires using the motor to strike the little metal plate, and need careful adjusting every time to work reliably.

An actuator makes the design less complicated. Going to cut up the metal tonight and start the box and lid. I will share my design ideas with you assuming they work HA!

That sounds... High end.
I only got junk parts, scrap wood, and rat traps.

Made the box tonight for mine. It's rough ATM.
Picked up a small 5v solenoid and hooked it up and tested with the remote setup on 9v and it's snappy! I will post pictures when the lid is on and the parts are all in. Will try for a video as well. |

Solenoid appears to be too weak to open the box. Going to cut a new box also as I wasn't happy with the first results. back to work

just got a remote control kit and tested this.
The SC2272 chip cannot provide enough output power for the motor. Need a different board...
