Also, be aware that certain fields (particularly those with CQB) won't allow anything upgraded. i.e. stock internals all the way.

If you're curious why, it's just pussy factor. Some say safety, but until we start shooting each in the head with 5-600 fps guns (from five-ten feet away)... We're pretty safe.

(My friend had the honours of shooting my stock ICS from ten feet away at me... Hurt like a bitch, but I've hurt alot worse then that in my life.)

In thick brush using .2g BBs, it's pretty frustrating trying to get a guy even a close distance away, only to see BBs bouncing off leaves and other crap. By the time you fire a couple bursts at him, he knows you are there and will fire back. Switching to .25g BBs, even in a stock gun, will help cut through the brush, even if they move slower. Which is why people like me upgrade, to further push the heavier BBs through brush and through the air faster. I'm only shooting 350fps with my MP5, would like to go a bit higher, like 380fps, but I'm not complaining about the performance I have now.

And I agree that the player should get experienced first with a stock gun, say half a dozen games or so to learn the ropes and to get the nasty edge off (after a few games you start to relax more and get in tune with the environment of the game, learn that if BBs are hitting the thick brush in front of you that you don't need to faceplant to the ground), which can lead to getting startled when a player pops out in front of you, not knowing you are there, and you instinctively level the gun and burst at him. One guy last year showed up for his first game with am upgraded M16A2 and did just that to another guy 10ft away. Couple nice bleeders on the guys face. He fluffed it off since the guy was new, but said he'd be REALLY pissed if the shooter was a vet.

New guys thinking here.
I got brand new gun. Prolly at its peak stock performance. Why upgrade right away?
Have to attend few games, check out what others carry, see if or ruther what I'm good at and I plan to give myself some time to choose what upgrades suit my style of playing.
I have been impressed enough by airsofts performance. And thats is not small thing cause I compare them to those babies on pick. Sure I want upgrades. :-D But not yet.

I played with a stock gun for 1 year before upgrading, and then played with upgraded guns for about 2 years. I'm now back playing with a stock gun, and have been for 2 years. I don't find the difference that big, and prefer the challenge of a stock gun. And I'm not the only experienced player I know who likes playing with a stock gun...

Batteries last longer, internals and mechboxes do too. I never have to worry about shooting too hot for any fields rules, and I can play with the same gun indoor and outdoor.

If you get yourself age verified, you can purchase guns from the buy & sell section.

Soliciting sales or purchases outside of that area are strictly forbidden.

Please don't do it again.

Yeah, thanks guys, you all cleared up any worries of my stock AK-47 blowing too much. Good to know that stock isn't sub-par.
