Thread pretty much repeats variations of " boys will be boys. "
In the old days if you wanted to get a rise out of your counterpart you told them how much it cost.
"You spent $700.00 on a toy gun! Are you outta your fkn mind! " after that you won your aegs at game raffles. "Yeah i was like wow that's my number. Awesome." What she didn't hear was " 1raffle ticket $700. # of tickets sold 1."

Both parents hate guns but they encouraged me to shoot with the Cadets when I was good at it. After that they just tell me I'm retarded from the amount of money I spend on it.

My parents don't care. My mom says its better than Ice Fishing which my father loves and has spent allot more on than I have on airsoft. Let alone the 2 fishing boats and a dozen or so rod/reels for normal fishing

I am too old for my parents to give a damn... and my wife simply thinks that I am going through a midlife crisis. but my son thinks that I am totally cool as I promise to take him when he visits me this March. I wonder what his mom will think once she found out..

My mother thought it was good to be out and about, and my dad likes my AEGs.

The other day, I went into Airsoftgear with my buddy and his wife. Within ten minutes of holding some of the guns, she made him buy an M14, made me buy a P90 (wasn't that hard a sell...) and is getting a P90 herself come payday.

I don't think that's how this is supposed to work.

I played a little when I was younger with the little plastic guns. Recently, after starting my career, I decided I wanted to play again and now that I had the funding I dropped ~$700 on airsoft. My parents didn't care that I played or that it was guns they flipped that I spent so much money on something like it. My fiance doesn't give to shits, just like the rest of my hobbies and what not. And that's why I love her, she lets me be my own person no matter what it is.

Strangers though, when I tell them, it kind of makes the conversation awkward because people are always like "what's airsoft?" and you tell them and after they repeat it as "so you shoot each other with plastic pellets from toy guns?" it all of a sudden takes away all the badassery from the sport.

I haven't told them, though their reaction to my weekend racing habit seemed rather like a 'meh.. sounds expensive' If doing something that has a chance of wrecking my 30k$ car or ending up shiny side down went over that nonchalantly, the prospect of losing a tooth probably isn't that much of an issue.
