Measured today 6.05mm

Final verdict was that a tightbore would have very little difference.

Excellent! Tanks for the effort, Tank! Lol

Bent barrel issue. It is caused by the outer barrel being forced to be straight in relation to the stock. Because the inner barrel is held at the breech and the muzzle end, any bending, no matter how slight, of the outer barrel will be translated to the inner barrel. Only way to fix is to fully free float the outer barrel. Don't read what the fear-mongers say, you won't break your barrel if you free float it. A lot of people make up b/s and force it upon others and a lot of people take the info as the word of God. On the M700 there are three securing points, you are removing the farthest forward. The outer barrel is made of good steel, and will bend (with or without the attachment point to the stock) if the gun it REALLY abused. My CA M24 has the same thing, as in no attachment points forward of the fake mag cover in front of the trigger guard. It has been through hell, dragged, fallen over, whacked on trees and no ill effects at all. And the outer barrel is made of white/pot/monkey metal. So free float your barrel, and that's it. Be cautious, but don't worry at all about bending that nice peice of steel.
