You can also use a hicapa knocker valve for your VFC MP5 mags, and it works perfectly, I tried it and it works fine. No need to order replacement valves specifically for VFC mags...

Wow, this is awesome info. Was yours leaking out of the gas port prior to trying the hicapa valve? This eliminated the leaking?

I'd much rather replace these valves than try to improve the seal. The springs seem very low quality. On one of my mags, when its empty the pin doesn't spring back out on its own and only pops back out when you either pull it manually or fill up with some gas.

Just opened up my VFC MP5.. the trigger assembly material looks like crap with all the pot metal parts. I'm hoping to install these in my gun shortly especially the steel bolt to give a harder kick to the gun:

The large number of replacement parts right from the beginning to make a GBBR work properly is a key reason I stick to AEGs, OR
Will green gas, even at a higher cost, make GBBRs a bit more durable?

These parts are not a necessity, you can use the stock parts for as long as you want without any issues. So your conception about replacing parts to make a GBBR work properly is not correct. These parts are purchased NOT to make the gun functioning, but to enhance its function. Ask all the VFC MP5 owners on this forum and you can see that their stock parts are still holding up WITHOUT upgrade steel parts.

Its just like the WE M4, the stock trigger group can go for thousands and thousands of rounds. People just upgrade the trigger group for ease of mind and to extend the longevity of the gun.

Green gas over what? Propane? Cause they are the same thing. If you meant green gas instead of duster... no duster would give greater longevity as it's lower pressure, and therefore puts less stress on the components.

Green gas over propane. I know they are basically the same. But green gas has silicone oil added to it during production whereas you need to put a few drops of silicone oil to the valve before you fill up the magazine with propane

My question is: may be this little difference, with some other factors e.g. Valves design, is the main reason why GBBR parts needed to be replaced so quickly? After all, green gas is designed for airsoft, and the propane is for cooking. The saving may seem good at the beginning, but may become terrible when parts break sooner than they supposed to be.

Not to be insulting but that is a big facepalm. Hydrocarbons aren't 'designed' for any use...they just exist as molecules. What you do with them is up to you. Green gas and propane are the SAME... ie C3H8. They will have IDENTICAL properties. The silicone being added to the can during manufacture or in the valve stem before filling really doesn't matter. Further, all this lubrication does is stop the mag seals from drying and leaking.. you won't suffer any catastrophic malfunction or premature wear of parts. If you keep your rifle well lubed thru regular maintenance it's basically a non-issue.

That being said, there is a significant difference between propane (or green gas, remember they're the same) and duster gas or HFC 134a. Duster is 'weaker' than propane and will cause less wear to your gun, although if you attempt to use it on a gun designed for green gas the gun may not function correctly.

Hope that clears up any misconceptions anyone still had.

Thanks a lot for your enlightenment.
Anyway, I have been using green gas since the 90's and it seems it does not cause any trouble. So I will keep using it.
Cheers.

Well. I use AEGs for most of the time as main weapon, and may only fire a few rounds in some pistol games. So it's fine for me.

Is anybody experiencing a wobble, 0.5cm back and forth play on the cocking handle (in closed bolt position)? And if u do, what did u do to fix it?

On the mp5sd3, does the plastic front grip supposed to wobble as it clamps freely on the tube?

Thanks

Send a PM to "Sequential, and CookedHam" these two I know have the VFC MP5's and Cooked ham has the SD aswell, they could probably answer your question
