I've used them in the rain tons, no problems. I do take care to ensure that I take them off while doing things, like loading pistol mags where I might be putting strain on the finger tips, but otherwise, I use them all the time. No problems using them while airsofting, they hold up just fine.

You take you're gloves off to do things? Kinda defeats the point doesn't it?

Mechanix are fine in the wet. Just don't expose them to fabric softener. I found out the hard way when I did volunteer work at the Daily Bread food bank. Ended up helping sort out a pallet of liquid fabric softener to take out the broken bottles from the lot. The stuff combined with hard use weakened the synthetic material and ruined a few fingertips.

I think he means actually loading the mags, not loading the pistol, as well other small tasks that are hard to do with gloves.

REPRO..

the "leather" used in repro gloves is heat formed and bonded with water soluble glue. they dissolve in water.

don't buy reprogear.

I have several pair of Mechanix gloves that are going strong for over 2 years ..

The best I have ever had though are a pair of DAKOTA branded insulated gloves ( thinsulate ) 4 years old.. daily wear in cold weather..
still going strong.

I have been using these for years:
http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

They often go on sale for 1/2 price at CDN tire. Once you get them a little dirty and crusty, they look more like tan than yellow. The leather is holding up fabulously.

These also go on sale from time to time:

They are decent too.

Yeah, pretty much. I can still load just fine with the gloves, I just worry about making a hole on the tip of my thumb, so I take a precaution to ensure that my gloves last longer. I have a set of the coyote brown ones that have some holes on the tips of fingers after about 3 years of use in all weather conditions.

mm I don't think these gloves are supposed to be used for years.
They're more like workshop consumables...

On another note..

I have worn through a pair of mechanix in a day at the range shooting, from loading about 600 rounds in 5 round mags.

Gloves , like boots are consumables.. if they last a year .. they don't owe you anything

The 'impact' models with all the plastic and rubber bits and shit have less dexterity, the more basic the glove the better it is for fine tasks. I've tried both.

yeah, I know. Just haven't completely destroyed 'em yet, so I'll keep using them. just wanted to give a testament to their durability, relative to my usage of them. While I don't use them every day anymore (i've got another pair now that I do wear often but not daily), I did use them for both airsoft and general usage, and would not complain about their durability. I just found that to ensure that they lasted as long as I could get them to, I would take them off to do things like loading a TM pistol mag, where you have to pull that little tab down and would therefore put what I imagined would be undue stress onto the same small spot on a finger tip.

for sure. I've got the original model, and I can read books with them, use my touch phone, dig in my pockets, and other dexterous tasks etc, almost as naturally as I do without them on.

one thing I would enjoy would be gloves like that, but with integrated ABs or metal nails.
that would be sooo convenient/practical.
I googled it but it's only stupid stuff for girls.
I bet the militaries would use them.
