I will agree with two ideas on this thread
1) it's been awesome to try different things while in the gearbox and push the hardware to its limits just to learn something (hence why high RoF is fun to try) 2) High RoF guns eat ammo faster than you can possibly imagine. My current project AEG is firing approx ~1700rpm (11.1V) and it chews through a mag far too fast for it to be reasonable for actual gaming. Luckily I can undervolt it for actual games or limit myself to burst, semi, etc.

My PTW shoots 22 bb's/sec, so about 1300 rpm with an 11.1 15c lipo. That's actually faster than I really would like, but that's what it shot out of the box, and I'm not gonna mess around with it :-)
My M249 is actually only shooting like 10 bb's/sec, since I switched to a 7.4v lipo. I wanted it to have a slower rate of fire. Keeps heads down just as much as it did at 15 bb's/sec, but now I can keep them down longer... On all my other AEG's, they're all about 12-15 bb/sec, which is really all I want out of them... |

HAHA my TM M14 Shoots 1BB per second all Trigger control and Mosfet thats the best i got everything else is bolt action and pump action shotgun.
LOL Had to represent the DM's out there. Interesting to see the crazy rates of fire out there. Must agree with the guy and the rof at games getting hit with 20BB's when your dug in laying on the ground before you can get your kill rag up and call out. |

I make my SAW/LMGs shoot a little slower than normal ROF...just like that effect.
A buddy who rarely ever posts here has some screaming setups...mosfets, brick sized LiPo's, dual sector gear, high speed/high torque (i.e. M170-190 range springs). Freaking crazy. Biggest issue he has is having the mags keep up with the guns. He just likes building things and pushing limits. Which is fun...and really expensive...to do. So far as I know...he never shoots anyone with those setups. Not really a sportsman-like thing to do. His 400fps propane 1911 (or 2011...can't remember) is a really neat build too. |

lol my 249 used to shoot 800rpm when I used my 7.4v 4200mah NiMH battery. Since I switched to 1200-1500 rpm, I noticed my ammo goes down a lot faster, but I'm still getting the same number of kills per box =D

1500RPM on a G36C.
Not sure if that's fast or slow. EDIT: This is with a 11.1V LiPo.

My WE AK74u is shooting about 430RPM sounds like a .50 cal MG.. that is the slowest
the GBB Mp7.. about 1100RPM.. blows a 40 rd mag.. faster than you can say "friendly fire"

my TM p90 is also around that when I can get the trigger cluster to work properly.

I get about 20 rounds per minute.
Yay for bolt action! it doesn't cost anything in ammo! I go through a bag of BB per 1-2year, instead of one per game(like what, 15-20 a year? lol)

I feel the same way as well. With the motor/gear/battery combination I run, it was fairly easy to achieve 35+ RPS and I don't consider my setup to be too extreme, even though it's significantly faster than most airsofters. To reach the 40 RPS mark on the other hand, you will need dual sector gears, short stroking,a giant lipo, etc. I have none of that in my setup. the big downside with such high RPS setups is that semi turns into 2/3 round burst and there's a big FPS loss due to the dual sector gears not pulling the spring back fully. My setup with a regular 13:1 sector gear suffers from neither of these compromises and my battery is small enough to fit flush in the battery compartment.
