I can reload my M4 faster than people can wind a hicap.

This, having everyone spraying 50+ BB's per trigger pull with an M4 destroys any realism already achieved.

Well sometimes people will be stuck with high caps(I only have 3 mags for my Sig, 2 of them are mid caps and 1 is a high cap)

It's not too bad if someone does carry a high cap(atleast I don't mind), it's just that when a game wants(e.g. real capping) total realism, it's very low to cheat just to win.

Well I started with 2 high caps (*GASP*) with a JG Aug. I can understand that when you first begin this hobby/sport, you won't have as much as everyone else.

Look at me, it has taken me, about 2.5 years just to see the benefits of using a mid cap(and to finally order some...). I like mid caps much better now, and I hope that everyone who does take up this hobby will realize this sooner or later.

I just can't fathom how some people can find hicaps acceptable or find advantages to them.

I started airsoft this year; When I ordered my gun (which came with a hicap) I also ordered 4 midcaps (all availables at the moment).

I opened the box, looked at the mags, and having no speedloader I tried the hicap. It was the only time it was used. I prefered loading the the midcaps by hand, one BB at a time while waiting for the loader to arrive...

The only hi-cap I'll ever touch is the Lonex string pulling one. Pull the string 15 times and you got a continuous 300 round feed no winding whatsoever. But even so I'd only use it as a back up for my 8 other midcaps...

Mag ticklers have their place, but only one! At home to use while diagnosing and testing. I won't even bring them out for use at a chrony station.

lord I don't even do that. I have a 100 round mid cap and a bag full of bbs with a speedloader sitting on my work bench.

Only hi cap I have that gets used is for my AK and thats only because I'm more focused on upgrading and adding to my ARs. The Ak is mostly a loaner.

Hicaps have their place...

1. In a SAW/LMG/MG
2. On the workbench for testing
3. In speedball/shoot-fest/fantasy games where the simulation aspect of airsoft is tossed out in favour of the mindless blast away insta-gratification gamer

The player who gets into airsoft and spends money on propper gear, guns/batteries/etc... and fails to factor in another $50-100 for a set of midcap mags should give their head a shake.

The bigest shame happens when there's really nice models that don't have any other magazine options save for Hicaps...the BAR is one that comes to mind, the barret another. Over the years I've passed on a few guns just because there weren't other mag options available.

Nothing ups the pucker factor as a long game with limited ammo and real cap mags does (or mids/low loaded to real cap). Managing your resources pre/post/during firefights will get your heart pumping and your mind racing. Managing your fireteam/squad/teams resources in those games will lead to some downright hairy moments. Gameplay goes way up...selective shots, no one hosing down every bush in sight, no stand off and plink endlessly at each other, much less hunkering down endlessly in a static position, etc...

If you haven't tried one of those types of games...you're doing yourself a disfavour. Unless you're just in it to blast away endlessly at things (and those short 20min games are fun too sometimes)

I personally use 65rnds mags (lowcaps or midcaps? I never know...)

I don't like realcaps (30 rounds) as since airsoft guns are not as accurate as a real one, a few extra BB kinda compensate a little bit for it... but hicaps... that shouldn't even exist!
