I love my Kraken. $25 for a shim/regrease job, $6 for a can of paint and beat the living hell out of it! Well, it needs a battery cause the stock one is crap but most AEGs don't even come with batteries so that doesn't count.

Knock it all you want but it's got great power and accuracy out of the box. I actually had to downgrade my spring to play.

the same than this one?:https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pag...tion=&ID=22198

because i dont understand why its so cheap...

The second link is the "new" police kraken! Not sure if there is actually any difference other than the rubberized furniture.
And just for clarity, mine shot 370 FPS with .20's not .12's like they advertise.

I'd actually revise that and say they're great to learn how an airsoft gun works.

My CYMA snapped in half.

And i wouldn't consider CA a clone... JG, G&G, CYMA,etc are more so clones.

No compensation for actually pulling apart a mechbox.

That's interesting.

I live near Cabela's in Winnipeg; the last time I was in their store, I noticed they'd started stocking G&G AEGs, and expanded their airsoft section. Maybe they're moving up (a bit) in quality...

I'm sure his definition of clone is just below average standards of quality, or more leaned towards "China Clone".

I'd recommend the Kraken if you're fresh into the sport and haven't played even one game. That way it's not a great loss if it turns out not being what you expected. Though i'd recommend renting a gun above all.

It's a great gun for it's price. If you're just starting and you're not willing or able to spend 500+ on a high end gun it's a good choice.

I went the Kraken route as i was really tight on cash and two of my friends had just gotten into the sport. I got lucky, it was great right out of the box. But being the tinkerer i am i ended up putting money into it. In the long run, to end up with a high end gun it will cost more, and it will be a pain.

If all you need is a gun that shoots well, all i'd recommend for upgrades is a shim job with some metal bushings, lube, and a paint job. Anything else isn't totally necessary unless you're willing to go all the way with it.

I should be clear that my story is a Kraken success story in terms of major upgrades. BUT it was not without it's blood, sweat, and tears. You have been warned.

Now that i have been around the block, i would pick up a full metal ICS, VF, CA, etc now that you can get them from retailers in Canada.

See, my issue with this is that you'll actually be out more than if you went for something high end from the onset. This is because a stock higher-end gun that's only been gamed once can be sold for about 98% of it's purchase value. Seriously, I've seen ones go where the seller was literally only out shipping (so about $25). I'd be willing to bet on a stock kraken you're going to take $50-$75 or more.

Ye see this is where I disagree. Everyone here seems to think they can buy a gun, upgrade it and shit and expect to sell it for the same value they bought it or even more cause of the upgrades.Well no you can't. Once you buy something value goes down immediately. Especially when you use it.

Think of it this way. When you buy a brand new car. Then decide oh I don't like it I'm selling it. Do you think you could sell it for the price you bought it for? HELL NO. Same deal people.

98% is pretty high, unless you got a great deal to start with.

However, as long as the guns are taken care of and aren't outdated, you can realistically get back 85% or so.

Still a better deal than buying a Kraken and throwing it away in a few months.
