If it's too strong, it will actually overcome the follower spring's weight, causing it to incorrectly register the magazine as still having ammunition.

Maybe I just need to find a replacement spring that's weaker...

So, long story short, a spring with the right tension is what's needed? Why doesn't systema just make springs with the right tension... I'm so lost here

They DO make springs with the right tension. However those small springs wear out over time. Each time you insert a mag or run a mag 'empty' the springs is being 'used'. Each time you bump into something that taps the bolt stop it's being activated. Dirt/Debris gets trapped behind the bolt stop blah blah blah. lots of reason for the spring to wear down or for the bolt stop to not function as it should.

It is the most common "DERP my gun doesn't work WTF" problem with the PTW that is user or environmentally induced.

Brian,

PM me, I can get parts direct from the factory no problem. I may have a spring sitting in packaging.

If the mag if out of the gun, the gun should fire. If it doesn't, there is a problem.

If mag is in the gun and empty, gun should not fire.

If mag is in the gun and full, gun should fire.

No mag in real AR, gun will fire, bolt will not lock open.

Aftermarket PTW grips

Is there any aftermarket grips for the PTW? I have Magpul on all my AEGs, and the stock PTW grips simply suck.

You can buy an FCC MOE, but it is not the MOE+, so there is a huge gap around the endplate. I custom cut my own MIADs.

You can buy alot if other grips from many other companies, like G&P, King Arms, etc..

Yes, this is correct. Apologies, I was referring to once the bolt locks, if you eject the magazine, the gun won't fire till the bolt catch is hit.

Like Brad, I've modded my own real MIAD to fit. And as he suggested, there's also lots on the aftermarket.

Off the top of my head, G&P does the regular A2 grip, as well as M4 Storm, SPR, and Tango Down grips. King Arms does G27 and Tango Down. I believe all of these grips come with metal cover plates for the base as well.

I don't believe that they make an MOE+, just an MOE.

Don't like the ones from G&P and KA.

All my AEG have Magpul, so I prefer the same for the PTW so the grip feel and comfort is the same.

I may just have to modify a Magpul to fit one on.

It's a bit of work, but once installed, it's pretty awesome:

the FCC MOE grip is fine, it just has a gap in the end plate. Just don't get any dirt up in there and it'll be fine.

The gap has been mention several times. What does the gap look like?
