Did some sleuthing and found these.

Apparently this is the PVS-31. I personally prefer the look of the 15's and the BNVD.

Also apparently someone decided it was time to make Sam Fishers goggles into a real thing. Both night vision and thermal capabilities.

Both are L3 Designs and use the GPNVG Legacy parts catalogue. However the hybrid system requires the expensive battery anvis mount from Wilcox, or a battery pack.

The PVS-31's are an update on the PVS-15's Which is pretty cool, however they are a little ugly. I like the fact that they use the GPNVG housing components though.

Maybe we will see these on the civilian market in 2013-2014

I found the Wilcox L4G24 would be too expensive and maybe a bit overkill for my NVM14, so I took the L2G05 instead...Merry Chirstmas

figured this would be as good a place as any to ask.
What do you recommend for IR lasers/lights?
are the airsoft versions any good or is it better off just to buy RS ones?
Where would you recommend to get them?

For IR lasers, real is mandatory. Can't stress that enough.
If you're going to go with an IR light, surefire is the best way to go (I think)
You can typically find them decently priced on ebay. However if you want to shop new, I have had nothing but good results with DS Tactical.

Surefire M952V was the best one I have used so far. Had the most IR throw. If you're looking for a cheaper RS solution, Inforce WML fills that void, underpowered when compared to other weapon lights, but for the entry price you can't go wrong.

Should stick with RS IR Lasers, or at least something that comes with documentation. For an IR laser to be eye safe and can be no more than 0.6mW

LDI makes great lasers.

Edit: Dammit chris, how did I know you would beat me to this. :P

Nah, was a trick answer. It's an incandescent light which produces IR light naturally. No IR bulb needed.
