Im looking to try an extended barrel as well.

I'm pretty sure these are Hurricane kit VFCs have a little trademarks on the upper receiver...
I ordered a barrel "extender" from Ebaybanned for my HK416... I'll give you some infos as soon as I receive my package.

Hmmm... barrel extender. That certainly has my interest. I'm looking at it on ebaybanned right now. I love my 416, but the more I see them with longer barrels, the more I like them. I was thinking of installing a Tm M4 barrel, but removing and transferring the sights from one barrel to the other would be a pain. This extender plus the TM inner barrel might be a better option to get the look I want.
On the velocity front: I fired off probably 250 rounds out of my 416 today. Tonight I decided to chrony it. I took 10 shots with .2s (Metaltech Stealth black BBs) and averaged 402.3 fps, with all shots being in a range of 10 fps of that average. So the spring is settling down with use and results are more consistent. I didn't get any more 'wild' readings like my previous tests. With some luck it will be down in the sub-400 range after a bit more use. Next, I tried to chrony it with BB Bastard .25. The average of 10 shots was 386.8 fps with all shots being within 8 fps of that average velocity. Seems the difference in velocity with .2 and .25 isn't that great.

yeah taking the pins out of the gas block to move/remove it is one hell of a pain... also putting them back in is no walk in the park

Yeah. If I was to isntall the longer barrel, it would be x2, because I'd have to remove the standard gas block / sight on the M4 barrel too... I'm thinking the extender is the way to go.

Yeah, that might be a tough one. I know you like that rifleman position when gaming. A long barrel is better for that. I'm happy with the happy medium. M4 length is good enough for what I want.

Just an FYI, last night/this morning (not night long game) I was gamed this gun, and this morning when I went to shoot one of the connectors on the battery broke (connecting wire to battery cell). Simple soldering job fixed it though.

Yeah, I question both the physical and electrical integrity of the battery. I'm going to start shopping around to see if I can find a battery that will fit the stock. I would love to get a 9.6V instead of the 8.4V.

The only extender I saw on ebaybanned is the short one, and I just ordered it.

That barrel extender is going to look great, I think. For me, it gives it just the right length to look more balanced. I like all the 416 lengths I've see, but I find the short barrel makes it look a bit too stubby for my taste, and the long barrel makes it look too unbalanced, because of the short RIS rather than the long handguard of an M16. But that mid-length barrel looks just right. And with the matching length inner barrel will give it that little extra boost in accuracy at ranges.
I was originally just going to buy this 416 as a collection piece, but now I want to use it. At game time I'm gonna be really torn when it comes to choosing which gun I want to use. lol
