Is that what you meant?
How does the Yaesu fit into the shells - did the shell need modding to make the radio fit? Got any pictures?

Oh sorry. I got what you meant (I hope). As I wrote, this was a on-the-side thing I made for a team and this was not with a Spartan shell.

When I'll use the Spartan shell the radio will be hidden inside and no Yaesu cables with be seen outside the shell, only mil U-plugs.

Did this answer you question?

jurgen975: Not possible to make a radio with real parts. Would be if you're an engineer with a lot of good tools correct materials. But a Spartan is what it'll be for now at least.

Guys, what frequencies/channels are you using?

GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service)? FRS (Family Radio Service)? PMR (Private Mobile Radio)?

What more?

A friend of mine told me that a gen4 on the DH AN/PRC-148 will not be released.

Can someone confirm this?

I am still working on details for the MBITR project.

I can give you a small update, things that has been confirmed and will be included.
  • Spartan MBITR AN/PRC-148 shell
  • Yaesu VX-3R radio
  • Nexus U94 PTT
  • Mil U183 and U229 plugs
  • Optional Thales VHF and/or UHF antenna (very very limited!)

Also can be bought (maybe with) for real mil headsets such as TEA/Davies TASC-1, MSA Sordin, H-250 handset or ACM headset or handset. It all depends on what headset you want to use or if you only want to use a H-250 handset.

About the radio, for now PMR will not be available, at least for now. All other normal VHF and UHF frequencies will be available. Such as GMRS, FRS, LPD, SRBR etc etc. I will be able to program it for you and you will also be able to program it, but haven't figured out the easiest way of programming it yet but I'll have an update on that later too.

Small updates folks - finally!

Two Spartan shells are ordered, couple of U183 connectors and the internal adapter cables from radio to Spartan so that the antenna can be directly attached to the Spartan shell. Only missing now is the things to arrive and order the radio and a couple of other small things.

Channel 5: 462.650
Channel 6: 462.675
Channel 7: 462.700
Channel 8: 462.725

FRS:

Channel 2: 462.5875
Channel 3: 462.6125
Channel 4: 462.6375
Channel 5: 462.6625
Channel 6: 462.6875
Channel 7: 462.7125
