All good until you need proprietary parts replacement, then I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

Ares
I too have the G36c, and the K and the plane old long G36. I have never had any problems and the are very well put together. Parts are not that big a deal...just takes time to get them!

Be more like realsword or systema. If you're going to make an AEG with unique internals, make them REALLY high quality lol
That's all any veteran airsofter really cares about, performance and durability of internal parts. |

If you guys need parts, just contact the distributor here, their info are on ARES website, I don't want to post their info, just in case.

Tried, zero response. Also, that "canadian distributors" website looks like it was made in the mid 90's. That distributor also only uses a yahoo address.

If you are talking about CUI airsoft that website has been exactly the same way for close to one year. No product, no changes, nothing at all.

Mind you, finding certain parts (i.e. Outer Barrel to go from G36C to G36K) is a pain in the ass or impossible... cuiairsoft.com looked promising at first...but I haven't got an email response...so I'm not holding my breath |

Everywhere else I tried didn't seem to have it (ehobby, redwolf, etc.) Mind you, I was looking for the Ares "OB-G36K"...the "Shooter36k" is listed as "SH-GOB-36K", must be a re-branding thing... Anyway, I am very grateful! Saved me from buying a full g36k! But yeah, I wouldn't recommend Ares at all, except for the G36s. Can't speak for any of their other models. But the difficulty of getting Ares parts is enough to make me steer clear of their other models. |

I do not shoot a lot in each game, and do not like to dissemble my airsoft to make it more powerful. I use the "normal battery" instead of Lipo. I try to be more tactical than using powerful and high ROF gun.
So Ares seems fine to me. At least I can get something unique from them. Last edited by Swattiger; January 25th, 2012 at 11:42.. |

Have you been reading this thread. Difficulty getting parts is not from the distributor but Ares. Contact Ares in HK directly, Zshot is only a distributor. |

Lunar new year going on right now for anyone trying to contact Ares right away.
There is also some debate if the staff at Ares can correspond in English.

I just finished fixing my friend's ARES AR-016 and I gotta say, I am in love with ARES's gearbox design. It was pretty much a V2 gearbox with a quick spring change feature and microswitch instead of the standard trigger contacts. They even went as far as to cut a groove in the gearbox, right below the bevel gear, to allow the wire to recess further in, preventing any shredding of the wire. I really liked how they used a ball bearing bushing on the bevel gear.
My only real complaints is that the stock shimming was pretty bad and was probably the cause of the broken sector gear in my friend's gun. Also, the stock air nozzle is also quite leaky; the same as my TAR's original air nozzle, but not as bad. But overall, great gearbox design. IMO, ARES makes some of the smoothest sounding gearboxes.
