Chrome-plated Recievers, can they be done?
So me and my girl were talking about airsoft and shiny stuff, when I had the idea to Chrome-plate a lower receiver for an M4/M16?
I even tried to look for pics, and couldn't find any. I'm sure there's someone here that knows how to do something like this, so discuss! |

YES
As long as they are metal and you know what you are doing, you can flame spray them with a powder coat. I flame sprayed someone's zippo on them. The only technique I know of is to put it on the lathe, not sure if that will work or not but there ya go.

its the same thing as asking if anodizing a receiver can be done.......
depending on the metal you can plate it.....pot metal is really hard to plate thow.... because you'll need a layer of copper oxide first(aka Flash copper)(because of the oxidation of potmetal) or another potmetal primer kit (nickel), then you could plate anything over that.....and alot of people recommend "sandblasting' the potmetal pieces before plating them with copper.... all other metals are relatively easy to plate, you can even buy your own "plating kit"!! :P Link: http://www.caswellplating.com/index.html http://forum.caswellplating.com/plat...py-chrome.html |

I had the idea when I saw one of those ICS M4 pistols, Something like that would look really cool with chrome accents, and it would be truly unique too.
