GBBR : what can I/we get ?
Hello,
After a little search on GBBR I didn't find the answer I was looking for I'll just ask directly : What can I get for GBBR ? I guess metal body is a no go (even if I'm not a 100% sure a toll officer will make a différence between the replica and real steel here) like AEG :banghead: What about internal parts ? Like trigger group, bolt and bolt carrier (for M4 type rifles).

Seriously I don't know about your laws but it's probably best to check it out with a local forum or maybe even Arnies Airsoft since they're at least on the right continent.
That being said if you do find out that you're not allowed metal bodies, word is that there are some plastic bodied GBBR's in the works. Also I guess it depends on your budget I mean you can get one for $500 USD or $1500 USD. So the cheapest you'd be looking at is probably 300 Euro new. Maybe check around your local team forums to see if anyone is selling their GBBR, you could probably snag one for a bit cheaper that way.

I'm talking in Canada of course.
I'm no newbie I know pretty well what is available on the GBBR market but I hate having plastic where it is supposed to be metal. I ask because rather than buying an AGM or WA I plan on buying each part and then building it after I have everything I need. Mostly because with what I have in mind there would'nt be anything from the original replica on my custom. More precisly I have a full VLTOR CASV M4 with gas piston in mind. PS : I know a gas piston is no use but I like that |

Your location says you're in France...If you're in Canada, you can get Age Verified there's a few retailers that could probably get you VLTOR receivers, CASV sets. The only serious part you're going to have trouble with Customs on is the lower receiver. Then you'd have to custom order one through a retailer. BCG and front-sets, furniture etc. should be ok.

I remember that he said in a previous thread that he's from France, but he's moving to Canada quite soon (if it's not already done?)
BTW, to which area are you moving? As your the question, you should be fine with ALL the parts, EXCEPT for the lower receiver. Even the upper should be allowed fine, however note that customs might take their time... (my MBUIS was stopped for a month in customs, so expect that any firearm-related-looking thing [ie especially upper receivers] can be very long, but should be accepted). There shouldn't be any problem with internal parts as these don't *look* too much like they're from (airsoft) guns. You should be able to get most GBBR here in the classifieds, from the WE SCAR to the AGM or JG M4 to the Inokatsu series.

Have a retailer bring in a G&P or Prime lower, the rest you can order yourself.

Sorry for bringing this up (again) but the last answer made me wonder :
Is everything truly OK to order by the regular citizen as long as it is not the lower receiver which I have to order by retailer ? Seems like the best way to have both AEG and GBBR customs for a "normal" price. PS : I'm moving in Montreal |

Anything can happen with customs, but 90% of the time you are fine as long you don't order restricted parts (for an AR its the lower). It helps to order from known airsoft websites, so customs KNOW its airsoft parts and not RS which *might* cause you problems/delays. |

Building your own may or may not save you money. You will have to take into account the shipping costs and duties/taxes you will have to pay for non-restricted parts to be ordered in. What kind of budget are you working with? If up to $400 or $500 then you might be looking at an AGM for a full GBBR, if you wanna go G&P, WE, WA, Inokatsu you will be looking at least $750. Try figuring out how much you will be looking at for building your own and if its worth the extra time and effort.

Don't forget about the Tanio Koba/KJW GBBR that's coming out (word is a release can be expected in November).
That one is supposed to go for around the $500 mark. I don't know all the details such as mag/aftermarket compatibility but I do know that the M4 is the only model that's going to be offered for now (so if you want an M16 you'll have to get all the parts to convert it yourself).

I was thinking about a WA type M4 since it is possible to find everything in spare... and I already build one for a friend (knowing how to mount the real steel helped a lot).
First I'll go for an AEG since I got myself 8 PMag (the 120 rounds G&P ones, not the green label) and I still have my LiPo batteries and charger, really kicks ass by the way. Since I like a lot HK416 I'll probably go for that. What would be the average for a VFC and DBoy one in Canada ? The GBBR is still merelly a project and who knows ? Maybe by the time the VFC HK416 GBBR comes out we'll be clear to import whatever we see fit (Ninja goes back to his pray). |
