Another Hicapa Problem Thread...

Hey why not, there's already like 4 current ones

Anywho: Got a new metal slide, had smooth action throughout but was sticking at the most rearward position. A little filing solved that. Smooth as butter now.

However, if I cycle the pistol manually, it's butter smooth. If I fire the pistol empty, the nozzle sticks forward and needs a nudge to send it back into the blowback chamber. I tried filing down the top of the slide where the nozzle goes past, and that has helped a little, but it still sticks. Sounds sorta like arman's problem but I'm not sure.

Help?

Sounds like my problem and ancorp's except ancorp did not have a metal slide.

It may have to do with the outer barrel to improper metal slide match. Or perhaps its how the metal slide was made that the blowback unit just cannot sit properly.

Its not a guarder slide you are using right? I found a Guarder slide is quite hard to work with. You have to file down so many parts just to get it to work smoothly

But I am sure Illusion - Hicapa Godking knows best

check the leaf spring to make sure the prongs are in the correct position. Also check the o-ring in the blowback chamber to make sure its notout of position.

If you fire and the slide locks back... and you drop the mag, will the nozzle still stick forward or will it drop once the mag is ejected?

It would help if you indicated the brand of all your parts. Particularly the gun, the slide, the nozzle, the blowback unit, and the magazine.

Personally, I would never file down the top of the slide where the nozzle goes past. You may have just created a premature failure point for the slide - that is an impact point that needs to maintain size.

It was only a TEENSY bit of filing.

Also, it seems to work SOME of the time. And no dropping the mag does not make the nozzle go back. Think it might just need a little more filing, since it went from "rock solid nozzle jam" to "easy to send back" and "works some of the time".

Using two different outer barrels(TM plastic and Nineball 7 inch) with a Davidson Custom CNC'd slide. Everything else is stock TM.

Strange update: With the TM plastic outer barrel, the gun fires fine if I hold down the mag release. If I don't, the nozzle jams. Yet releasing the mag after the fact does not release the nozzle, like I said before.

Tested again with 5 BB's. I can fire off the 5 BB's, but then the nozzle gets stuck when the slide locks back.

Illusion, help?

m102404 will probably have your
answer. PM him about the nozzle
loading finger being deformed...

Sounds like it may be bent up or
down too far.

PS: Aren't upgrades fun! Uhg.

Well, I fired off nearly an entire mag of BB's fine, but when the slide locked back the nozzle was jammed too. Not a big deal, I can just release the slide and then put in a new mag and rack the slide...but it's kind of annoying.

Maybe a teeny bit more filing is in order, piston might be stuck somewhere on the slide. Any words of advice Illusion?

Found out what might be the problem:

One of the "fingers" (the left one looking down the gun) that points forward is broken off, all the way up to the square of material used to slide the blowback housing into the slide.

New Airsoft Surgeon Lightweight Blowback Housing might fix that perhaps?

Ordered a new blowback housing and hard piston. I'll soon see if that's the problem. If not, does anyone want an Airsoft Surgeon blowback unit? Lol.

which finger? There are 3 I believe, on above the nozzle, and 2 below(which actually contacts the frame rail)? The top finger really doesn't do much, and I cut it off regardless...

Like I said, the bottom left looking down the gun as you usually would.

There are actually two "fingers" that point forward. One that rides along the frame to trip and hold down the disconnect lever, and another one higher up in the slide to keep the loading nozzle going straight. The one higher up that holds the nozzle in place is not easily visible by looking in the chamber - if you're talking about the leg on the bottom against the frame, I'm surprised your gun was able to cycle properly at all with it missing.

If you're talking about the leg that holds the nozzle in place, then yes - that would explain the problem you're having. Don't toss out that blowback unit, though. It's still usable with Guarder slides as Guarder slides require you to actually chop that piece off.

Curious: where'd you order the blowback unit from? I'm surprised you didn't order it from me... I thought my pricing would be cheaper than ordering it on your own overseas. If you can provide me with a link to a cheaper source that has stock, I can match pricing or do better.

fyi, I just took a look at this Davidson Custom products... looks like he is sourcing from the same manufacturer that Airsoft Surgeon, Creation and myself are using as well as several other manufacturers. His products are coming from their standard catalogue.

Ah, that would make sense since it was just today, previously in a Guarder Springfield slide.

Also, I ordered it from Redwolf. Didn't really think to look if you had it. I guess I could cancel the order and get it from you. It would probably be faster and comparable price with shipping, and support a Canadian retailer

I just looked, you have 22 in stock! Holy crap!
