My American Cousin

Heres the deal, My cousin from New Hampshire came up to the great white north for OUR thanksgiving, and to check out the house my family is building. After playing with my G36 for a night, i think i got him interested. Being American, he has way more market then we do, but i just love the ASC so damn much, i though i ask you first!

Hes looking for something in an Armalite, preferably with a metal body,
Im thinking, CA-15, or a G&P M4

any ideas? thought?

if he's a starter, JG, CYMA, Dboys, anything along those lines would be just fine. Those brands all have metal body versions of M4s too.

He didnt like your JG G36C? obviously, I mean that stuff is full plastic on the outside.

Your JG is plastic tho as all G36's are, a metal m4 might be sturdier

Since he's in the US it's a bigger market there and the prices should be cheaper for things. I would say if he wants to get into it why not go for a better gun for a decent price there?

I mean here we consider the Kraken to be starter grade whereas over there who knows maybe a TM is considered starter.

I think the ones to look out for are Dboys, JG, and CYMA (I've heard Aftermath is a rebranded CYMA not sure if it's true or not).

I have the Tactical Carbine version of the CA M15 and I think it's the best of all possible versions. You have the shortened M4 carbine barrel, which makes you less likely to smack your barrel off something when turning quickly, combined with the full stock which houses a large battery. Small batteries don't have near the run time of a large battery, not to mention that the reinforced slip ring (the ring that keeps the fore-grip on) is really stong. While this is mostly a good thing and a big step up over CA's previous M15 versions, it makes changing small batteries in the field very difficult if not impossible.

CA's M15A4 series in general is a big step up over their previous versions and as far as stock armalites go they're probably the best. All metal where the real steel version is, the plastic parts where the real steal version is plastic are made of good quality plastic. CA has a deal with Armalite so you get all the proper markings. Plus that deal also goes to show the quality of the manufacture, Armalite wouldn't put their name on a shoddy product.

Internally the gearbox is reinforced metal and all the gears are metal as well. It fires hotter out of the box then TM's as well, firing at 300-320 fps where your average TM only fires 280-300 fps.

All in all this is a great starter gun if you can afford it. Because it's all metal you don't have to worry nearly as much about breaking it and you won't get any of the wobble that is infamous in stock TM M4/M16's. Unfortunately affording it is the biggest problem, they're not cheap.

Imo, he should get a chinese clone(JG) and play with it, beat it up etc. First guns go through a lot of crap as learning tools.

When he's more informed and figures out what he wants, he should invest in a high quality M4(or whatever he ends up liking).

I know that after I went to my first couple games, my views on a lot of things changed, including which guns I liked. Your cousin might see a tricked up Aug or Mp5 and be like, "I want that!"

If he can afford a CA or G&P, go for it. If budget is an issue up front, Dboys, JG would be fine to start and upgrade later.

id actually reccomend a g36 or an ak. theyre a lot simpler to take apart if needed to be worked on. specially the g36. yea i think a g36 would be a good starter gun. a good bit of aftermarket parts, easy to take apart, and a v3 gearbox.

when youre first starting out itd be better to have something that comes apart simply and in fewer parts that way there isnt much to screw up or break when youre a noob.
i know i hate taking apart m types. theyre a pain in the ass to me..... so many little parts

alright guys thanks for all your input, Since hes in the US, Hes decided to prong for something more then a Chinese clone. Let me explain a little more about what we're thinking about brands..

CA: I have heard that their internals have gotten a lot better in the last few years, many people seems to be big fans of their externals.

KWA: I have heard nothing but good things about their guns, seem solid, lipo ready, shitty trades

G&P: bit more pricey, but they seems to be really well built guns, i have also heard lots of good things about them, they come with stock tight bores, right?

Kingarms: I have heard almost nothing about these guys, but def a possibility

ICS: They seems to be solid guns, and the split mechbox is a terrific feature, but the lack of compatibility with most mainstream internals is a bit of a worry...

Right now im thinking CA or KWA
any other ideas?
