Lipo battery with stock gearbox?

What parts would i need to replace for a stock tm m4 gearbox inorder for it to be able to use a 'Firefox' 11.1v 1200mah (12C) Li-Polymer battery pack? Or will a systema m120 complete gearbox be able to take it?

I have run lipos in several stock gearboxes and never had an issue. My advice would be to use the lipo until it cooks the stock gearbox (if ever). As long as your aware that there is a chance that you will run into problems at some point.

Try short bursts instead of long ones to increase the life of the gearbox.

change the stock bushing with metal bushing and shim properly and you are good to go with lipo batteries...

id think a piston with all metal teeth would be good for use with a lipo
i saw one on ebaybanned i was trying to get

So you have metal gears grinding on metal piston teeth? Bad idea.

A 3S lipo will probably destroy a stock MB. At the 100% very least I'd think you need bushings, a polycarb piston, a stronger spring (weaker spring won't return fast enough), probably a new piston head as well. Polycarb tappet plate might not hurt either.

really? i thought since the gears are steel then a piston with all steel teeth would be better.
all the teeth got chewed flat off the piston in my one gearbox from only a few short bursts on full auto with a lipo battery, and i have to use a lipo with it cuz no other battery will make the motor do anything at all
i replaced it with a king arms pom piston figuring that should be more durable than jg's echo1 pistons

the reasone your piston got chewed up is because the gears are going so fast, that they engauge the piston befor its fully forward.
11.1v on stock internals = piston rape.
if your going to stick with stock internals, use a 7.4v lipo.
even with a M120 spring, 11.1v will chew up your piston.
i use the Firefox 11.1v batteries, but i also use a fire controll computer (extremefire) to reduce the motor speed by 40%, it still shoots at insane rates of fire, well over 26rps. with its high discharge rate, a 7.4v lipo will pull as fast as a 9.6v NiCAD or Nimh if not faster.

yea even with the new ka pom piston in it i keep it in semi only so that dont happen again.
i already knew why the teeth had gotten stripped. its just too much power and speed for a stock plastic part. the stock piston only had one metal tooth if any at all

The problem is that a less powerful spring doesn't return the piston to full forward before the MB cycles. Hence forward moving piston + rearward moving gears = oh shit.

A trigger master MOSFET can prevent the problem by electronically slowing the motor speed to an acceptable level to prevent piston stripping.
