There was something about it in a newsletterish thing from my unit awhile ago, as far as i remember it's under some testing and being given to the people who need it, such as those being deployed. Beyond that i don't know much, and what i know may be wrong.

Unless you are in a Infantry unit an going overseas soon don't count on getting one. Well, I dunno if other combat arms units get it. I think it's just supposed to be for units that would/could do dismounted ops.

I got it, its pretty much like a giant small pack. It's not bad, the frame/stays that you bend to form to your back is kinda cool.. but be useless when wearing armour an I can see them bending/breaking if you drop them or something.

You get the ruck, two large pouches you can attach to it and a compression sack for your sleeping bag. My ruck is empty right now, so you don't really get too see how big it actually is. The ruck an its componets come in different sizes; so before you get issued it you get all sized up an they get you the parts that will fit your body better.

Get a 64 pattern jump ruck frame and zip tie/cord the 82 ruck (straps and all)to that. It works well and still looks uniform. Change out the valise straps with 2inch load straps and add some padding to the hips.
Got yourself a working pack that is bomb proof. Mine has held up for over 15 years.

I was contemplating doing that this summer. Other then the frame is there any specific bits I should make sure I have so I am not missing a vital piece?

I did a ruckmarch with it back in Shilo, was pretty comfy. Was kinda weird at first though since I was pretty used too using my Jump Ruck.

That's what I did to one of my rucks last year. Bought myself an P82 bag, yoke, and valice, then picked up a P64 frame, straps and kidney pad from CPGear. Rigged it all up and sweet Jesus did it work.

Looks sorta like the British Bergen... which is an Amazing ruck. Why the CF designers didn't do this sooner is a mystery to me cuz the Bergen has been around since the late 80s early 90s and is much better than the 82 pattern ruck by far.

what to buy the new Canadian ruck? lol yea you ain't buying it. It isn't a wide issue item, an it's only going to deployed Soldiers from Combat Arms units... yea what you think your chances are of getting one. Also, like I said it's all custom sized to your body so even if you did some how get one, it might not be comfortable at all for you.
