Has Customs changed it's tune?
Things have been different recently. Almost anything I get has been delayed and openned but no problems (though I haven't bought anything suspect)
Of interest though was my package from WGC with a grip and a flash hider. The customs form for duty and classification labelled the contents: "guns/air under 500fps" Never seen that before. I've read the posts and forgive me forgetting the specifics but I know that above that constitutes a firearm... What I really want to know is that if an item can be classified this way and be fine coming through customs, what, on that list of things in the FAQ that you can't import as a private citizen has changed, if anything? Specifically, I would like to order another lower receiver for my PTW and possibly a barrel set. SO if clearly marked for an airgun under 500fps, what would be the issue. If it clearly cannot be used for a real firearm... I know it's generally considered not allowable but... I'm thinking aloud here with this one because I cannot see how this "should" be an issue though I am all too aware of how it "could" be an issue. Any evidence, anecdotal or official.... Not trying to open a can of worms or suggest any crazy acts or logical jumps to ordering aegs and such on ones own. It's just parts and accessories. |

It should not be an issue for anything airsoft, but it is. The excuses we get are: velocity and how it looks (Replica laws).
Most parts, from everything I learned, are not a problem but even then... it depends on how the person checking the package reads their policies. Springs have been seized. Last I checked, those laws/rules have not changed. So take your own risks. Heck, you take a risk for anything imported by yourself. I prefer to avoid the headache. |

My systema mechbox and motor I just picked up yesterday had the same lable on as yours there branson. It had been opened and sat in their office for almost a week and a half before it was released. They even took the mechbox out of the blister pack box it was in to check it over.

Yeah I realize it's a gamble and I hold my breath any time the tracking says "sent to Canada Customs for processing" . It's just odd to see a classification that makes it look like there's someone reasonable and further, some law that's reasonable.
If I keep thinking like this I'm liable to convince myself that I could order anything... |

Interesting, nevertheless.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from UN with TNT, came through Toronto and wasn't checked nor opened.
I was surprised.

Ordered a few packages in the last month, nothing was opened and didn't take longer than a day at customs. Guess I'm just having good luck for a change.

I have ordered a few things outside canada in the last month or so. 2 times the order sat in Customs for 3 hours max and never got opened, the other times they got opened and sat in customs for 3 days. Either way I haven't had any issues, but of course I am not trying to import anything illegal.

Package was never opened & the original invoice was never opened, so how can you say that I will get an invoice????
I'm just lucky, that's my guess!

Yes its just the luck of the draw! for me, my Un order spent 8 days at customs and was released 12am last night. I had ordered Metal slide/outer barrel some mags etc for G19 so will see what I get ding for in charges. My last order made through Huang, a CASV had $20 tacked on to the declared 30 price.
