Battery Charger Help
Ok I need to get this figured out quick as I have 3 batteries to charge in a matter of 5 hours before the game starts and my battery charger is acting up on me. I bought a Tenergry Universal Smart Charger from Velocity Arms awhile back and for some reason it just loves to keep blowing my fuses to the point that I am now out of fuses. Which brings me to question number one, the fuse only says 250V on it but no Amps, what amperage do I need for one of these chargers.
Secondly, the instructions say to connect the battery first and then plug the charger in which I did and it blew the battery so I put in the last fuse, plug it in then the battery and it blew that one too. So my second question is what is going on? The only thing I can think of is that the NiMH batteries have charges still in them from last weeks game and that might be blowing the fuses? Except I've charged these batteries before when they had partial charges. This is all giving me a headache..... |

The only fast answer for you is to get a far better charger. Even then... 3 batteries in 5 hours? Wont happen unless they are the Large type and the charger allows for controlled fast charge.
The slow answer? I never heard of a charger that said 'plug in the battery first'. I have not googled your charger, but if it's a trickle charger there is no way you'll charge 3 batteries, or even one, in 5 hours. |

250V? Euro power supply is 240V... which side of the charger is the fuse for? power in, or charge out? - it might not have anything to do with anything but from the info you've given the only thing that occurs to me is the charger's set up for UK power for some strange reason.....
EDIT: nevermind - i just took the time to look up the charger at vel. arms - it's worldwide power ok.... does say "Safety protection fuse for over current, short circuit & reverse polarity protection" - so check for those three conditions and then keep guessing i guess... What I wonder most about then is the requirement to plug in the battery first before plugging the charger itself. None of the chargers I have ever used recommended that practice.
What size of battery and exact type are you trying to charge again? That too makes a difference. Minis dont tend to be able to take that much amperage at a fast charge. They can and will blow up. |

I have a charger like those myself, always charges my packs flawlessly.. and I back that up by saying you always plug the charger into the wal first, the lights flash red and green once, then you plug it in and it goes steady red.. on my universal anyways.

just bought twp new fuses and it blew both instantly. The first time I tried plugging the battery in first before the power and it blew the fuse the moment I plugged the battery in. The second time I plugged it into the power first and the moment I plugged the battery in it blew it.
I have three batteries and each one blew a fuse, 8.4v 1400mah mini, 8.4v 2300mah large, and 8.4v 3300mah large. The only fuses left in town are damn near $4 a piece lol. |

At least you're not plugging your charger directly into your gun...

If you use the battery adapter from mini to large check the wiring the wiring is wrongly connected.. the red wire goes to the black and reverse. Just reverse the wire in the adapter and you will be fine. I don't know why, but they ship all their charger will wrong wiring connection. Just check your wire and be sure that the black is connected to the black and red to red. JF |
