How much gas is left?

Is there a way to determine how much gas is left in a magazine, other than to fire it?

Right now, my gun isn't firing, so I'm not sure if its because there's no gas left as there might be a leak, and I don't want to keep trying to fill it as I don't want to break the magazine.

No, there's no real way of telling, as far as I know.
You can use the gas release sparingly if you need to check if there's any at ALL left though.

Sorry, I'm new to this whole Airsoft scene. What do you mean by gas release? Is it that small button-like object that is 'held' by the sliding plate near the top of the mag?

No real way to tell how much gas is left other then firing it to see what type of distance your getting.

If you just want to see if there is any gas at all though, press in the gas valve slightly (use a pencil or something, or you might freeze your finger tip off). If no gas releases, then your empty and probably have a leak. Although if your filling it and its leaking you can usually hear and or see it doing so........

It sounds like you're describing a Western Arms magazine... The button thingie is the release for the valve. The plate that slides over it locks the release open and is an integral part of WA's blowback mechanism. If the plate is in the upwards position, over the release button, then the valve should be locked open and your mag should be hella empty.

Yeah, I'm using a WA SV Infinity 3.9".

I was told that when I want to fire the gun, the plate should be in the downward position, and thus the release button would be released. However, even after I supposedly load the mag up with gas, when I put the plate down, and attempt to fire it, when I take it back out, the plate moves back up. Is this normal?

The order of operation should be:
1) push plate down so the release valve pops rearward
2) fill with gas

I think you're doing it in the opposite order. Let me guess, your mags get very cold very quickly?

Mantelope, you're a genius. Thanks! I just fired a couple test shots, unsure if it would work or not, and when it fired, damn, it gave me a bit of a scare! lol!

You press your thumb against the valve, based on how lose it is you can estimate how much gas is left.
