Fix Found-How do you change EG1000 Pinion Gear
Hello,
Doesn't seem to be any info on this in the FAQ's. I have 2 EG1000 motors with stripped pinion gears, but the motors are fine. I know pinions can be changed but how is it done without breaking the motor. 2 guarder replacement pinions are on the way and I hope this will fit. Can some one give me a step by step break down so I can do it properly? Any special tips and tricks would be helpful. There are some tools designed for this(I think) but where can you find them. Thanks MD

Thanks for the info on the pinion pulling tool.
Will local hobby shops have generic multiuse versions or will I have to order this specifically? Something local and quick might be better to get me up and running faster. Anybody in the GTA have one of these for rent($) for couple of minutes? Shoot me a PM if you can help me out. Thanks MD

Fixed the pinion
I went to a local hobby shop and purchased a generic pinion pulling tool for RC helicopters ($26). I had to modify the base with a metal file to fit under the larger airsoft pinion head. Once that was done it came off easy.
The guarder pinion replacement heads went on easy after putting it in a vice with a washer on the bottom to support the motor shaft. Once the old pinion is off it takes less then a minute to fix. Instead of buying new motors just fix the perfectly good old ones.

that's the same set I have and it works great. I do recoemdn that you don't use a wash (with the hole in it) under the motor while you hammer on thepinion as you really want to supporet the shaft. If you use a washer you could force the shaft to move down through the communitor (sp?) and the windings. Just screw the pinion puller down almost all the way so the pin rests on the shaft then hammer on the pinion. Hope that makes sence.
