Installed KJW M9 Hogue Grips, Can't figure out where piece goes

I have the same problem as the WA M9 with my KJW M9 Elite now that I've installed my new Hogue grips on it. I can't figure out how to put the piece back in so the lever works again, can anyone help?
The part I'm referring to is #65 in the KJW M9 diagram and the 'lever' is part #64.
See attached diagram below.

lever?

I have Hogue grips on my KJW M9...never had to play with anything other than the screws that hold the handgrips...

Give me a second to bring up a pic I took for someone with the same problem.
EDIT: Heres the pic, just look at the way the spring is positioned. Same thing happened to me when I installed my houges. Also, you might want to put a peice of paper or something small where the slide catch is on the grips, the groove is bigger than the original grips so the lever tends to pop out.

Hope it helps
