Tritium Night Sights Replacement

I've got some nine-ball tritium night sights for my PX4 that are a few years old now. Original owner purchased them in spring 2012 from ehobby but it's unknown how long they were in storage for after manufacturing.

The glow is pretty dim and doesn't even begin to compare with day-glo stickers... but the steady glow is still visible in low-light settings.

What would you do if they didn't glow as bright as you expected? I don't believe you can replace the individual vials...

If you were to dispose of this hazardous material, what would be the proper procedure?

I'm thinking of just straight-up glueing day-glo stickers ontop of them once they're done... Holding onto them as novelty...

Any suggestions?

Does your municipality run a hazardous materials dropoff? Here in ottawa they have a rotating schedule where they set up a collection point in various parts of town to collect stuff like chemicals or paint or other toxic substances.

Coming back to this after it's been at least 12 years having these sights.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to get the vials relamped?

Laylax/nineball stopped producing these because Japan has banned the manufacturing with tritium.

And trijicon will only relamped sights manufactured by them.

I'm in the exact same situation, but near Montr?al. The red dot in the nine ball front sight of my hi-capa is barely visible, but the green dots on the rear sights are still somewhat visible. I wouldn't mind replacing them for phosphor dots though, they last long enough for my needs when charged with a modern high-lumen flashlight.

Green is always more visible than red to our eyes. I noticed the same thing too.

I bought the day-glow phosphor luminescent glue before. Friend of mine was spotted because they were too bright when playing indoors in low light and gave away his spot somehow.

Hybrids are where its at but theyre pricey and no idea if there will be fitment issues.

Last resort is to ask my company's armorer...

Yeah, I've spotted people before of their glowing sights before too, I cover them with my hand or keep the pistol tucked under my arm when I really don't want to be spotted. You can spot some red dot sight too, a lot of the cheap ones bleed light.
