Transition from DPM to CADPAT...
Okay, so I'm sitting in front of my computer and had a thought...should I sell all my DPM kit and go for CADPAT/OD?
Prior to now I've dismissed the thought with the reasoning that I've already put alot into my DPM's, but if I can find trousers that fit...hmm... Plus my CO and XO have been urging me to get some CF issue combats... So now my dilemma, what do you guys think? I'd appreciate it if someone who's used both could comment. Here's a list of my stuff so far; S95 Ripstop Jacket (190/96) S95 Ripstop Hood (112) S95 Shirt (190/104) S95 Trousers (85/88/104) S95 Bergen Side-pouch S95 Helmet w. DPM cover (outsize) S95 Desert Hat (63) S95 Goretex Gaiters S90 DPPVC Jacket (180/104) SCC POCdt. Beret (7 ¾) SCC POCdt. Rank Slides (x2) SCC Shoulder Flashes (x2) Arktis 1600 Battlevest (DPM) Viper Drop-holster (DPM) Sigma Knee-pads (OD)

you understand that getting issued, and in good conidtion CADAPT TW will be difficult right? Also, RSCC - Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 169 right? Have you checked the cadet regs about cadets wearing Issue CADPAT on exercised held on CF bases/property?
You'll want to make sure before you start investing the big bucks in issue CADPAT. If your SCC needs you to get issued stuff, grab a pair of ODs.

I've done research into Sea Cadets and CADPAT and even though there are no set rules, it's still sticky, usually coming down to your CO's permission. I've been able to track down mint Gen3 jackets and trousers, but it's down the proper sizes (78 long trousers :banghead: ).
My StoresO, TrgO, AdminO, XO and CO have no problem with me getting it so long as it's in good condition

Guys, yes on paper hes not suppost to. Although, I've seen SO many little cadets wear issued CadPat on a weekend ex, along with their mommies issued tacvest.
Why cadets need cadpat and tacvests I don't frigging know. They live in their own little world. Just, get some fake CadPat, and that way if the RSM of a base is anal about it. He can't do anything since cadets are still civi's. Worst he can do is give a dirty look. |

Just make sure you don't have a real CADPAT Tac vest (not like anyone's really dumb enough, less you want to be really warm to carry four high-caps or something).
Get the fake Parkland's, they're cheap enough, you won't cry if ou rip them. Or, just start a new collection. I'm currently working on the "greenery" setup, I have all the black stuff (well, whenever the hell I get my package from Tiger Tac...) I'm not sure on my tan (possible coyote) setup though, Just too many choices. So far, a mix of TT, TAG, and BHI. I love gear.

I would recommend not wearing real CADPAT on a CFB as a cadet. Civilians aren't supposed to have the real CADPAT uniforms(yea, I know tons of people have it). When troops return badly faded/damaged uniforms, they are supposed to be shredded, not sold to surplus.

So it doesn't seem like anyone's actually answered my question. More of you have said to buy fake CADPAT then anything else.
What I'm wanting is to know whether or not there's a point in selling my DPM's for CADPAT? Right now I'm buying Gen3 no matter what. And I don't have to worry about a base RSM because...there isn't one. The other CO's in the area don't care if I wear DPM, so I doubt CADPAT will make much difference.

Black Hawk, if your buying the CADPAT anyways, than its up to you. Do you want to keep the DPM or sell it an have some extra cash?

Keep the DPM, its more unique and much more "special" on the field.
I would never EVER trade my DPM for CADPAT ever, even if CADPAT is canadian, its too overused. Keep the DPM |

What I'm doing is buying the basic CADPAT (jacket, trousers, hat) for when I'm on base, but I like having one style of combats (more cost-effective). So I'm considering selling all my DPM and replacing it with CADPAT. I'll probably post some of it here when I make my final decision.

I think the real question here is whether or not you want to keep your DPM for airsoft use and have a set of CF combats (OD or otherwise) for cadet related activies. While it's more cost effective to have only one uniform to use for either, what do the majority of your peers have in the way of combats? It does make sense to have Cdn style combats, even if other CO's in the area don't care.
Speaking of which, are Sea Cadets not issued work dress anymore? I would've figured that's what you'd used if your unit dressed down. Who knows, maybe I'm old and they don't issue it anymore. Also, you've already invested quite a bit into your DPM kit (the Arktis Jungle Battle vest along is enough of an investment)...one set of CADPAT combats won't break the bank. |
