Metal AK74 mags?
I was wondering if such a thing exists, i wanted to try some straighter mags for my AK47 due to the fact they have a hard time sitting in my vest. And im just curious if metal Ak74 mags exist.
I have come across these guys but im not sure they are "straight-er" : http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...ducts_id=14598 |

The angle of the photo is trollery. They are just as banana'd as any other 7.62x39mm AK-style. The reason for the curvature lies within the design of the round's casing - it tapers down slightly towards the neck. As such, the rounds were incapable of stacking straight like 5.56x45mm (AR-15) or 5.45x39mm (AK-74) could, for example.
Why the tapering? More reliable stripping and chambering of the round, better extraction at low pressures and in adverse conditions, and steel casings (what was used back then when the brass was reserved for other uses) expand too much. Just go with AK-74 mags but pull out the internal assembly, tighten the screws, and use tightly-wrapped electrical tape on them cheers! |

I have never seen any metal 74 mags, as the realsteel magazines are polymer. They may exist somewhere on the internet, but I have never heard of/seen them.
If you really want metal AK magzines, why not just use 47 mags? The great thing about airsoft is that they're interchangeable!

I'm certain I've seen metal north Korean style ak74 mags before, and I think its CYMA that makes them. Comb the Chinese sites like gunnerairsoft and rsov.

I've seen them before. They just look like straightened out AKM magazines.
edit: Ironically from the site I was trying to find. Here is a list of AK mags currently, or that have been in production in the past from various countries. Fun read! http://home.comcast.net/~shooter2_in...mag_guide.html I've seen some people mod real AK mags to fit for airsoft. So with a bit of effort (And whether its legal or not?) you could prolly have a project ahead of you. Last edited by Strelok; October 22nd, 2013 at 11:21.. |

Unpinned centerfire magazines are prohibited and a huge legal no-no. However if they were already pinned before being shipped into Canada.....that might be OK.

for $12 plus shipping I would just buy one and find out in person. I really hesitate to give you a confirmation because I can't tell from the photograph. It certainly does look straighter.

The only real steel metal mags that looks like AK-74 ones are the slab-sided mags;
The one far left on this picture;

There's also actual ak74 mags made from metal. The ones you've posted are all 7.62. The north Koreans as I mentioned earlier use metal mags.
